Heads/Cams
Do you guys think its worth it to do a set of VT heads and some blower cams on my stock shortblock. Or is that asking too much with the factory block and a Procharger? Also for you guys with fully built motors, about how much do you have into the engine. Im trying to figure out whats the best way to go on a budget: build a motor or buy a shortblock and some heads?

i would beef up the internals before trying to get any more out of the engine. you already have almost double the factory hp.

if you're planning on doing the labor yourself, you can just rebuild the stock engine. if you're having a shop do it, i'd just go with the shortblock and heads. i think you'll save on the labor. but i'd definitely beef up the internals before adding anymore HP

It would definatly be worth it. And the sound of raw power from the beast will really be shown.

id do it at the same time you do your short block. no reason to now, its allready maxed out. or save that money form the heads and cams and just build the shortblock and the put more boost to it. and then later, when money permits, do the heads and cams

i'd definately get some forged internals, if your block is good i think you'd be better off just getting a forged rotating assembly instead of a shortblock. your block is already seasoned and broken in. but.. i dont know if you have to get your block bored out for the new stuff and i also dont know how much it would cost to get your engine bored, honed, assembled (bottom end) and balanced. those things i would definately look into first. heads and cams can come after your engine is built to withstand that kind of raw power.

What are some good stroker kits for boost? Should I stay with 4.6 or punch it out to a 5.0? Im looking to get into the 600rwhp range when all is said and done. A blower swap will eventually come too. Im just getting bored with its power now, dont even feel fast anymore.

i've heard that a stock stroke will withstand the higher hosepower than a 5.0 stroker kit. if you stroke it, it will put more strain on the rods. you can get plenty out of the 4.6. you can get a forged 4.6 rotating assembly complete for under $1700

just keep the stock stroke. no reason to go with the stroker unless your wanting a lot more torque, and it doesnt really hurt your motor to stroke it. just casue a little more wera on backside of the piston and piston wall, but def not going to hurt your motor or diminish its life expectancy

what if you're a lefty? huh???? Or even better, ambidextrous. Then you stroke really good!
on the 4.6, I would stay at it and just get some power out of it. Build that block and boost or spray the crap out of it if you really want some good torque.

if you must do a stroker, then look into dss, fox lake, chp, livenois, and a couple other ones. pretty much any of the big engine builders have kits, all it takes is a little searching. you decide whats best for you, not what we tell you is best

Im meant a fordged kit. Just swapping the internals with some forged stuff, I would only have to hone the block out right?
