Procharger Install

my budding is putting a procharger kit in his 99 cobra. I was wondering if the kit is do able doing it by ourselves or do we need to be professionally put in. How hard is it to put in and also what kind of tools do we need to put this kit in if the kit is do able by ourselves. I know it comes with good instructions and i do not know how hard it is to put the intercoler up and also the install of the injectors and the fuel pump.

You can do it yourself if you are mechanically inclined. I installed mine by myself on my 01 gt. Prochargers "instructions" are garbage. It took me the better part of a day to get it finished, most of that time is spent trying to get all the tubing to line up due to the instructions not really telling you what goes where.

Here's a tip, remove the front bumper for the intercooler. I didn't the first time. It makes things much easier.

Not a bad install as long as you have some basic mechanical skills. Hardest part is the fuel pump and injectors. Dont forget to run different plugs. NGK TR6 is what Id suggest running. Oh and yea the instructions are junk!

The hardest part for me was getting everything lined up right and for some reason the power steering lines (you have to extend them becuase the cooler goes in front of the intercooler.) I had to take everything apart a few times to get it right.

The fuel pump is pretty easy as long as your tank is empty and the injectors are easy too.

Cut the p/s lines, then plug them with a bolt or something, then put the extension in. Drop the fuel tank to do the pump, pull the fuel rails to do the injectors and the plugs too. Pull the computer to do a chip (or get a handheld tuner) Worst part of the instructions are on how to mount the charger. It took me around 7-8hrs to do everything taking my time and alot of beer breaks. Just be sure to get a good tune...the tune is everything.

Its an easy install...

Easier then a vortech IMHO...

Just refer to the plug heat index we have in the forums to see what plugs you need...

Its also based of what kind of boost the car will be running...

Check with the tuner for his preferred plugs...
