Buying a midpipe 2morr...*Need Help*

Heres the deal, i found a couple of choices locally for both an h and an x pipe in the vascinity of where i live.
one is a pacesetter o/r H and the other is a bassani with gutted cats. Both are "used" but the pacesetter has never been installed. And both are approximately the same price.

Im leaning toward the pacesetter because im over all trying to achieve a deeper throatier tone(H-pipe). But i wanted to know your thoughts on the deal cuz im not the fondest of pacesetter. Any input on either product will be appreciated.

The X-pipe Will give You a few more horses...... If You plan modify Your car for alot more power in the future it'll help you more.

1-2 more horses tops. And it will not make a difference on what you have or add to the car, the X will only have the 1-2 more than the H. It doesn't flow a whole lot better, just a little bit. LT Headers are the only thing that would make a decent Hp difference over Shorty's, with more mods added to the car.

Bassani is the better brand, so thats what I would buy, and just get new cats for it.

The X pipe has better flow than the H pipe and the More power you make the more effective it becomes so the more power it adds over the H. I'm not sure why anyone would gut the cats on a Bassani X pipe since the Bassani comes with O/R extentions to replace the bolt on cats. I don't know much about the pacesetter brand, but the H pipe should give you a deeper tone. Is the pacesetter or the Bassani SS?

The X pipe has a little bit better flow than the H pipe and the More power you make the more raspy it becomes so the less apt your going to wanna hear it over the H. Isn't Bassani all SS??? I think they are, or atleast all of their newer pipes seem to be.

The Bassani Bx series are all aluminized steel or something like that. When you are buying it used so many people assume they are getting SS with Bassani when they may not be.

Ok I wasn't 100% sure, but most I seen were SS, so I figured they were all SS.

not when you have the right setup :wink raspiness on these forums are way too blown up, making it seem like "OH stay away from the x-pipes theyre 'raspy' " Its all preference, I like both but prefer the o/r x-pipe.

go with what setup YOU think sounds best, after all it is your car that will be ringing your ears daily!

I couldn't agree more. We all know H pipe have a deeper tone, but to just say that X pipes are raspy in general is kind of stupid to me. Never had anyone that heard my car in person say my exhaust was raspy. It all depends on the exhaust the X pipe is hooked to. :wink

if someone wants your opinion obviously its gonna be biased, after all thats what opinions are. But I think one should give the pros AND cons of BOTH sides, as you did earlier.
