Car has a lot of miles need suggestion on what to do to it
Whats up fellas. I'm a new member right now but I read your forums almost daily. I have a question. Ive had my 2000 mustang gt for for a while now and Ive put a good bit of miles on it (a little over 150k). I have only put programmer (hypertech), exuast, performance clutch,CAI on it. Since it has so many miles on it, I was thinking about upgrading the motor. Any suggestions.

welcome to MM. i've got a 2000 GT as well. motor has 102k on it. i was planning on buying a built longblock with a forged bottom end and then putting a blower on it, but i puked a rod bearing about 3 weeks ago. so instead, i'm going with just a forged rotating assembly in the stock block. the heads and cams will be further down the road.

the stock block will stand up to probably more power than you're gonna throw at it. as far as rotating assemblies, you can check out DSS, Livernois or CHP. the kit should come with a crank, pistons, rods, main and rod bearings, piston rings and wrist pins. depending on how much HP you plan on making, you can actually stick with the stock crank. i think the stock crank is good to about 500-600 hp. VT builds really good engines from what i hear, but i find their customer service to be lacking. i ordered my parts Sept 24 and they still haven't shipped.

welcome to MM bro, if i were you i would definately drop a forged rotating assembly in it. the heads should be fine, might need new valve seals but i doubt it. with forged pistons and rods you can put a blower or turbo on it and run a ton of power.
