Long tube headers or short tube headers?

Im trying to get some more performance out of my 03 mustang gt, but i also want that powerful sound. Is there really that much of a diference between the LT and the ST Headers?

not absolutley necessary, but will aid in scavenging.

to get images up, upload them from your computer to the album link at the top of the page.

copy the image location and end the .html with .jpg and put in [img] insert url of image here [/img] tags

or

upload the image to the testing thread for image attachments and use the url there in the image tags.

if you want it next to your posts below your name, just go to your profile and upload the image as an avatar in the specified size restrictions. same goes for the signature

Ok here's the combo that I think will be pretty good..... SLP Loudmouth Exaust System w/ MAC Long tube Headers. Do i need an X-pipe or H-pipe in addition to these? If so, what kind?

loudmouth 1's (super loud) catted midpipe
loudmouth 2's (deeper, not as loud) off road midpipe

X or H is your choice and H will be deeper, X will most likely be louder

If you live in a state that has strict emissions regs, you may want to be sure that you have a street legal x-pipe with good cats and muffler if you want to pass.

in many states, long tubes fail a visual inspection too...

You gotta know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody that will slap a sticker on your car for some cash... I know this guy who can make a phone call give him VIN, make, model, and insurance info and you got the sticker the next day, but then again thats not exactly legal.

Re: Long tube headers or short tube headers?

Dont forget theres such a thing called midlength too, tho i dont know if they are any better than long or short tubes, i would guess increased flow over the short tubes and thats about all i got to say bout that Forrest Gump style.

the problem with mid-length is finding a mid pipe to fit it plus if your going to spend the money you might as well get the long-tubes.

ok so h-pipe is deeper and x-pipe is louder...

what about performance gain defferences?

i'm planning on getting o/r for whichever i get, than slapping a pair of pypes highflow cats. that'll choke the sound a little, and prob some performance...but i don't want the check engine light on.

if i inspections place sees that cats have been welded in they might fail it, L/Ts may fail also, but a H pipe and X pipe have different sounds, from personal experience from someone how has had more exhaust systems and have had put so many on in my life, x pipes flow a tiny bit better but nothing youll notice compared to an H, x pipes are smoother and more hollow, a H is more aggresive, get a mac o/r prochamber best sounding midpipe, but with certain mufflers, an x takes the win, with SLP(which i dont personally like) a x pipe will give you alot better sound, i recommend a prochamber and 40s or x pipe and flowmaster 40s or o/r x pipe and bassani true street muffs

ok so basically it's a personal preference as to sound (since performance isn't an issue)...

damn...this is gonna be a tough decision... lol

if this helps then x-pipe adds more torque and h-pipe adds horse. the deeper and louder concept still applies.

Do you think there is a difference between mac x pipe, bassani x pipe, ect? Because compared...bassani is really expensive. Is the sound just different or is one louder or better?
