Installing Rear Gears, Quick Question

When I wanna replace my rear gears with 3:73s', can I do this easily? This means taking the axel spline out, right? Also, should I coat the ring gear with anything when I put it in? Im not doing this stuff NOW I just wanna know for future reference. Thanks

I wouldn't do it man. You can run into all kind of problems with the install and the after affects, if you aren't 100% sure and don't have a lot of knowledge of rear ends.

Yea man unless you've done it a couple times I wouldn't recommend the install yourself. I watched mine get done, and wow i would have F'd something up. And Yea anywhere from $2-300 is good.

Not to sounds like a dick but how do you learn if you dont do it? As long as you get some crush gauges you shouldnt have and problems, its all about getting the spacing right!

you need a dial indicator for starters, and then you need to do your homework and then i would say attempt it.

If you try it and screw something up it will be alot more expensive having it fixed than it would be to just pay to have it installed. I say pay somebody.

my theory is even if you break it youll learn from your mistakes and it costs less than payin for classes to just fix ur mistakes and you learn more in the end. once you learn youll know forever and you can charge your buddies to do their to recover from your learnin losses
