What does that usually run $$$ wise? And is it something I can do myself?

prolly driver error, check your blinker fluid or maybe the loose nut behind the wheel.

depends on how mechanically-inclined you are and what tools you have available. Parts are usually in the neighborhood of $250 + depending on what you find once it's disassembled.

k.. heres the link to the T45 rebuild. It's pretty good I think...

http://pomoforacing.com/tech/PreliminaryT45rebuild.pdf

If you decide to do this yourself, make sure to get these torx sockets listed below. EVERYTHING ELSE IS CRAP AND WILL BE A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!

Unless you have a press at your house, you will also have to be creative with your tools too. One of the things I did to remove the pressed on parts is rented the largest puller at Advance Auto Parts(which is still about 10" too short) and then cut some flat metal bars to about 13". I picked the metal up from Home Depot. It was in the cabinet hardware and hinge section. The metal size you need would be 1/8 - 3/16" thick and 1 - 1 1/2" wide. These numbers are currently a guess since I'm at work writing this.

What I did with the cut down metal was cut out 4 pieces to the length of 13" and then drilled a hole at each end centered and 1/2" in from the edge. I then used that in place of the extensions that come with the tool.

For pressing the bearing on, I was lucky and had somewhat the correct tools for it. If you don't have the tools for that, get a piece of metal pipe that will fit right over the shaft and use it to slide the bearing on.

Last suggestion is to get a decent set of c-clip removal pliers. Cheap ones just mess the clips up.[/url]

Damn this is gonna be a pain in the ass. Reconsidering having this done by a pro.

Hardest part I found was pulling the bearing off and removing the c clips. After that, its a walk in the park. It's easier than rebuilding an engine. Reassembly is also a trick if you don't have any assistance. Make a stand to hold the tranny in place and the reassembly will be a lot easier.

If you still decide to have it built by a Pro, call Chris over at Blow-By Racing. He knows of a shop in Orlando that is pretty awesome. His number is 561-417-5555.

One last thing.. Get a shifter that has adjustable stop bolts and install that. It will extend the life of your tranny since it will stop you from over shifting. I'm using a Pro 5.0 shifter and currently pleased with it.

you can definetly do it yourself, and if you cant get the bearing pulled it will still be alot cheaper just to pay to have that removed, just take your time and be careful, dont just wing it follow one of the how to's that someone posted, it takes you step by step with pictures etc.

good luck man! and any questions along the way, get a digi and one of us will be able to help you

have fun

one more tip, read the WHOLE how-to before attempting anything, and before you perform one of the steps, make sure you read that whole step a couple times and understand it. ive learned this the hard way doing some stuff on my truck.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't the later 01 cars get the Tremec 3650 trans? Depending on the build date?

Yeah they changed it in mid 2001. I have an early 2001 so I have the T45. I also have a steeda Tri-Ax shifter. I called around today and got some quotes of $850-$1400 so I might be trying it myself after all. With the guidence from here and a few friends I think I can do it. Next thing does anyone know where I can buy a rebuild kit?

I have had the Steeda Tri-Ax for a while now. It was great when I first installed it. IS there a possibility that they may have moved? I will take it apart tomorrow and look at it.

On the Pro 5.0 shifters there is supposed to be a 0.010 gap between the stop and the shifter. Find out what the gap is supposed to be and check with a feeler guage. I'm guessing that it is possible for it to move but doubt that the stops on the Pro5.0s will move. The plate that the bolts go through are threaded and are locked with a nut at the end. To make sure, I used lock tite on the bolts.
