Compression
Ok What is compression? What do the numbers mean (9.0:1)?
I know that lower compression will give you less hp N/A, but is also better for boost. I know that higher compression will give you much more power N/A, and is much more N2O friendly. Someone, could you just explain everything you know about compression to me? lol

it's the ratio of volume in the combustion chamber when the piston is at bottom dead center to the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at top dead center.

if you decide to run bigger valves with the heads/ cams, you may want to go with dished pistons so the valves don't hit the top of the piston. if you plan on staying N/A, you could probably raise your compression and be fine as long as the tune is good. with higher compression, you need to watch for detonation. if you plan on putting a S/C or turbo on the car, you'll want to lower your compression.

9.0:1 is the ratio
example 10:1 is higher it is 10 cubic inches of oxygen before it gets squeezed buy the piston and becomes 1 cubic inch...........ten to one higher would be nice on our cars if you plan on staying n/a.... the higher the compression the more octane you have to run to prevent detonation like the other guy said..... |

ok so the 9.0:1 means that 9.0 cubes of o2 are compressed into 1 cube?
so the . is just a decimal as in nine point zero?
