the billet weighs less..

I don't know about how strong it is compared to the Forged block though.

all i know is that a forged and a billet shortblocks are much stonger than a stock gt shortblock. Forged=forged steel, Billet=the shiny little gadgets you put in/on your car to make it look sexy lol. But i'm sure its just a stonger alloy metal

billet is machined out of a solid piece of billet aluminum or steel. they will generally be lighter and stronger but are usually expensive. not worth it for a street car as you wouldn't need one unless you plan on making a ton of power.

Yes, go forged for street use,

they are stress relieved, shot peened, and of course hammer forged equaling extremely strong........sometimes just a little heavy but that is cool because of the great strength.

Actually, that is debatable. Some enineers/metallurgists fell that the billet pieces have one major flaw. Due to the fact that billet pieces are machined from a single piece, the grain structure of the metal does not make a smooth flow through the finished piece. However, the billet pieces are alot lighter, and there is no real world evidence (that I am aware of) at this time to support the theory that the grain structure is compromised in a billet piece.

I agree. It all depends on who you talk to. Some people say it makes no difference and others say its a big difference in strength.
