umm have a weird problem? idle problem?

so it basically started today... my engine is idling at like 1200-2500 wtf? lets say i put it in 4th gear goign 35 it will drop around 1400 rpms as soon as i put it into neutral it rises up around 2 grand... its idling higher for some reason... vacuum hose? any help? oh btw... i turned off the car and waited and as i drove around it seemed fine and i got on it and slowed down put it in neutral and it started to idle at 2400rpms any ideas? its doing it either way, i take it easy or i get on it...

idle sensor?? i don't think its a vacuum hose, beacause that would just idle your car down until it dies, iam not sure. Check all your hoses attached to your intake plantium.

check your throttle and idle sensors... get some cleaner and just wipe them down... see if that betters or worsens the problem...

its not a vacuum leak... i know what those are and you don't got one from the sounds of it... damn VW's

anyways best of luck on the fix

Take a look at the throttle body, to the left of it is a "IAC" or idle air control valve, it has a small wire harness plugged into it. This allows air to by pass the throttle body in the closed position so the engine can idle. Try removing it and cleaning any carbon and dirt. It may be sticking to cause the condition you are going to. May have to be replaced.

Ya, good luck on the fix, I'd check all your lines running to the tb and such, especially the idle control screw and the iac.

If u have a good tuner you can run live data logging on start up or check the diagnostics.

it won't be $1000 bucks, i'm not sure how much the sensor is, but its way under 1,000

saying +1 or +1000 is just away of saying you agree with the previous poster. You should still be able to afford your headers.
