Hey guys...Dont post much but I think Im gonna start posting more (Deployment is winding down, and we have plenty of free time)

anyways, Im about to buy a Lightning Audio Strike 12in sub in a ported box and a Pioneer 760w amp......My question being, will this cause my trunk to rattle? I dont wanna be rollin around lookin' all ghetto and whatnot. I assume the license plate will rattle, but that wont be a problem getting it to stop.....Anything else? thanks guys!

If it does rattle you can get this stuff called dynomat and put it in the places that rattle. Don't do your whole trunk cause it can get expensive. Just close your trunk put on a bass song and listen to it outside your car by your trunk so you can hear what is rattling then get smaller pieces of it and out it where the rattling is coming from. you can also put it behind your license plate.

Dynamat works perfect. Also, I wouldn't recommend buying Lightning Audio, because their stuff is junk. Also, stay away from Sony, Bazooka, Power Acoustik, Legacy, Alphasonik, Blaupunkt, Jensen, Visonik, Road Gear, Dual, and Boss, these companys car audio is complete junk, and not worth the money. Pioneer is ok though for a decent cheap Amp. For Subs I would look into Kicker, JL Audio, Adire Audio, Diamond Audio, Boston Acoustics, MTX, JBL, Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, Image Dynamics, Eclipse, Cerwin Vega, Clarion, Infinity, Memphis, Orion, Pioneer, Kenwood, Polk Audio, Audiobahn, JVC, Lanzar, MB Quart, Panasonic, OZ Audio, Phoenix Gold, MA Audio, Pioneer Premier, etc....they all make good to great to excellant products.

Are you ? Some of those people you have on your do not buy list make great car audio stuff. Just don't buy their low end cheap stuff and you'll be fine.

No i'm not crazy, I have sold Audio and Video, and have a cousin who went to school for this shit. So I grew up around alot of car electronic shit, and learned how this shits made, and learned alot of inside secrets about many different Audio companys. And the ones I listed, make junk, but if you like their stuff, then by all means go ahead an buy it.

Well I put good to great to excellent for things like that. Audiobahn is a subwoofer that has been more for looks than anything, and is always overrated on the amount of RMS power that they can handle, but for the price, they are decent. The main thing was spending to much time on the looks, and claiming too high for power, but they do perform well, and the quality is decent, as well as the price for the most part.

Sony, Bazooka, Power Acoustik, Legacy, Blaupunkt, Jensen and Dual all put out reall good high end stuff as well as cheap lines that you can find at pep boys or Walmart. If you are buying a deck for your car and it is $69 bucks there is a reason. Sony is one of the top electronics producers in the WORLD and you are telling me all their car audio is junk? Give me a break.

Look you want a good cheap sub .. go on ebay .. kicker comp vr's ..

I've been doing custom car audio/video installations now for 8 years ... sure you can spend a ton of money .. and claim to have this bad ass system .. but the fact is most people don't want a system that blows the trunk off their car .. I prefer 2 10's for a my mustang .. and I put 1 12" in alot of others .. I have kicker L7's .. they hit a good range of bass and don't take up alot of space.. but the comp vr's are a bit cheaper and sound good as well ..

I want to put 2 10's in my trunk with a custom fiberglass box. hopefully nothing will rattle if I have it done right. But do I have to get a new head unit, eventually I'll get a touchscreen hu put in. But I don't have quite the money for that right now. I'm going to have the local audio shop put in some kickers, or JL's in for me, probably around 500 bucks I'm guessing.

Haha, I appreciate the help guys, but I know ALOT about audio and whatnot. And that being said, lightning audio is the shiiiizzzyyyy! But Im not going with that system anymore, I confused the strike with the storm....I thought I was getting the storm, and it turns out he was selling the strike....Nah, Im sweet...haha

As for Kicker Comp VRs, I have a single 10 in my TA powered by a kicker 400w amp, she sounds purrrtttyyy for only being 1 10'

I've got a 12" Fi Q in my trunk (competition sub, one of the loudest for its size that you can get) being pushed by 1800w and I really don't hav eall that much rattling. With the sub you specified, you should be fine.

If you do have problems, just use some dampening material along the lines of Dynamat (don't use dynamat though, it's overpriced).

As for rattling inside the car, one thing that I did which made a huge difference is pull up the rear desk covering where your rear speakers are, and along the whole area of the sheet metal in the back I laid towels down, then put the rear deck cover back on... You can't see it (of course) and it made a huge difference.
