How much HP should I expect?

Alright I think I have my funds in order... I'm ready to start buying mods for my car but first i'd like to get an idea of how much HP I can expect, ballpark of course. Alright to save a sh*t load of gas in the long run, instead of the Vortech S/C i'm going to go with:

-Comp. cams w/ valve springs (because I want the amazing idle sound)
-BBK ceramic longtubes headers w/ new Hpipe
-superchip.. (please advise on which I should buy)
-ZEX 100shot dry nitrous kit w/ purge
-dyno tune

Keeping in mind I already have 3.5" SLP Loudmouth exhaust (no cats) and a cold air intake & other misc. exterior mods., what kind of HP do you think I will acheieve at the wheels? Also, what kind of chip would you guys recommend I get?

I'll keep you updated as the mods come in and get installed!

I think you should see close to 400hp and around 460tq with that setup should be pretty nasty... good luck with everything

That sounds SICK, I can't wait for the cams. I should be able to spray a 100shot safely after those mods without blowing anything correct?

Also what kind of chip would you guys recommend?

I agree, you will be much happier with it. You will be fine with it as well as long as you take it to a dyno for a tune. DON'T SPRAY WITHOUT THE TUNE!

as far as the chip goes, go to a well knownlocal tuner and see what kind of tuning he supports. mine happens to be SCT so that what I go with.

I would also say to go with a SCT Xcalibrator 2 for the chip.

Isn't it a lot harder to install a wet kit? For a dry kit, doesn't it just go right into your intake and then the switch to the throttle body? I'd probably install the nitrous myself and then take it to get tuned or should I let him everything?

How does the wet kit hook up, is it worth the extra $$$? And how is it safer?

CAMS?!

I'm stuck between Stage I and Stage II COMP Cams.

At first I was dead set on getting the STAGE II because I want the sound before I want the performance. But now i'm hearing that I may have to fly cut my pistons? I know that i'd have to get the valve springs to complement the Stage IIs and either way i'm lookin at about $900.00 just for the install and tune but i'm looking for that signature dragster sound, it would be amazing.
I'd probably end up loosing some low end power because the stage IIs don't even kick in until around 3,000RPM but then again I have the nitrous to make up for that.

Would the Stage I cams give me that mean, nasty sound? I know its a bit ignorant to base my decision on the sound, lol, but lets face it, it's music to the ears =)

Either way, i'll have the BBK longtubes, Hpipe, SLP Exhaust, 3.73s, and 100shot (decided to go with Wet kit)

Any advice to help me decide on the cams would be appreciated! thanks

BTW, this is my every day car.

i still say just keep it simple and go for the stage 1 cams. your not gonna get a nasty lumpy cam from that but anyhting bigger will not do anything for you.

well, the whole point is for the sound though. thats where im coming from.

how is every day driving with the stage 2 ? does the car often die or anything like that? im lookin for the nasty rumble noise thats all i care about. ill have a 100shot of nitrous to help get me through the low end of my powerband when im racing either way, its only 10-20 HP and i wouldn't LOOSE anything i dont think by going with the IIs and springs?

let me know.. i might just be ignorantly making myself believe this haha and i dont want to do anything i'll regret especially if its $1000+ :x

well if sound is all you want, i guess you can do the stage 2 but you wont be able o use the power they make really well because your heads wont flow enough for them to be used. its hard for me to understand spending that kind of money for something that is supposed to gain (a lot) of power and then not use them to their potential! but thats just me. you have to ue the springs and do get comp springs. they make the best springs on the market right now for the 2v engine

Hey buddy. Sorry i havent responded to youre IM's lately... i have been comming home drained from work and the gym and falling asleep.

Anywhoo.... I know you want that sound.... but that much money and youre only gonna gain a small amount of power and of course the noise you like. But loose down bottom but you can rev alot higher... of course with headwork you can maxamise all this new found air. You could get alot of other smaller mods and be better off.

But the ZEX will do you well. youre gonna like it alot.

But in the end i say.... do what you think is right and make youre car the way YOU want it to be.

Go with a wet kit...It takes alittle bit more time to install but it is well worth it...Your tuner will thank you...

if you use the wet kit you're going to have to either cut the crossover fuel line behind the throttle body that goes from one fuel rail to the other and put in a "T" block so that you can get fuel to the solenoid or your can take the fuel rail off and take it to a local machine shop and for about 40 bucks they can tap and install a fuel fitting that you can just screw into....ive never seen anybody run a dry kit on a modular, ive heard that they run extremly lean and it can cause problems....make sure you get some NGK nitrous spark plugs

You can buy this for you 03

YOu can run a dry kit on a modular...I know alot of people that do with no problem...I went with the wet kit myself...Also go with a 1 stage colder plug...And retard timing 2* for every 50 shot of nitrous...

http://www.flowtechinduction.com/

check out this website. I got a set of cams for my car from there and they are custom ground for the setup that I have. It cost me about $750 for the cams and springs from there.
