Cobra Hood Liner

I bought this OEM $120 P.O.S. from Ford last year (mostly for looks) before that I was running with no hood liner. If you look at my hood, you can tell its a replica but the dimensions are the same, the functional hood vents line up perfectly with those on the OEM hood liner...But do I really need this thing? Wont my engine run cooler without it? The only thing I would be worried about is damaging the fiberglass on this aftermarket hood with too much heat.

I never used mine.
I had the OE Cobra hood and I never saw any problems with my paint.

I heard the same thing. If you run the car for too long the heat will warm your paint due to prolonged exposure to the heat. The hood liner is supposed to prevent the hood from being directly exposed to the heat.

I'm thinking about taking mine off because it rubs on the supercharger and fucks up the polish

That explains the small area on the hood where the paint ran...I thought it was just crappy body work. Thanks.
