Throttle Body Cable Sticking

My accelerator pedal has been sticking and its making me look like a bad driver and we can't have that. I've come to the assumtion that it is the throttle body cable. Should i just shell out some cash for a new cable or is it not the cable at all? This is a stupid question and I would rather be talking about real engine stuff but it's bugging me. Thanks.

check the inside of your TB. mine was grooved terribly and my throttle would stick. that and an old throttle cable. i got a summit TB(professional products i believe, either way i love it) and i sprayed light chain lube (for bikes or dirtbikes, its what i use on my dirtbike cables) in the cable and it works great. no problems.

It started happening after i installed a BBK throttle body. I hope it's just the cable. Is there anywhere you can buy just a cable?

it's the TB not the cable.

bbk's tend to stick.

I know someone on here has one and ground a small piece of it down and it fixed it.

i have a BBK t/b also, and yes, it sticks sometimes. you may need to clean out the t/b, also. sometimes, it gets gummed up with carbon build up. i did that with mine and couldn't believe how filthy it was. made a noticeable difference after i cleaned it out.

Ill try that but i think it's kinda weird that it would get that dirty after being on for a month. Makes sense though because the sticking has gotten worse and worse.

I tried cleaning it out but it turned out that I was right and it was the tb cable. Installed a new one and were running great!

Adjust the throttle screw out some. Not too much, or you will have an hanging idle. usually 3/4 turn. if you get hagning idle, u went to far.

I had the same exact problem. In my case it was the cable. It's been so long that i'm not really sure about the details...

I had the same problem with my BBK Throttlebody and it wasn't the cable. It was a "vacuum lock." A vacuum lock is when the butterfly valve in the throttle body closes so tight that it creates a seal. If it does this then the engine's vacuum locks the butterfly valve in place and it takes a little effort to unlock it. A simple test can determine if you have a vacuum lock or not. Work the throttle slowly with the motor off. If it operates smoothly with the engine off but sticks with it running then its a "vacuum lock." Some throttlebodies have a small hole in the butterfly valve to prevent this. BBK doesn't. You have to adjust the stop screw so that the butterfly valve opens a little, about a 1/16th turn. That lets a small amount of air pass preventing the vacuum seal.

Bingo! I had the same issue with my Professional Products TB. You need to adjust the set screw correctly. Don't go grinding or drilling or anything...
