The only reason 4:10's are no good are if you can't power shift well. Yes, with 4:10's, the rpm's wind up quickly, especially in 1st. . .. but that's kind of the whole idea of racing. Go to the track and listen to some hard core street cars go down the track. Pay attention to their shifting patterns. How long are they in 1st gear? Not for too long.

Unless you're putting down some serious power, 4:10's are garbage in these cars. I had both 4:10's and 3:73's in my GT and there was no 3rd gear w/ the 4:10's; it would just wind out and not move.
please explain... that made zero sense to me
+1
Sounds like someone is blaming their lack of driving skill on the gears.

I raced another car exactly like mine besides the fact he had 4:10's and I had 3:73's (equal drivers & tires too BTW) and pulled a car and a half on him from 1st until half way into 3rd. Take it from someone who has experienced both sides of the spectrum, go 3:73's w/ your GT and you'll be very pleased...
you, sir, are an idiot.

I think if you drive your absolute best, you might have a chance if you prep everything ,and get all those mods. But if you got some cheep chip somewhere you'd have em, (thats along with the cat back exhaust, 4.10s, n chip)

I have 4.10s and haven't driven 3.73 so I can't compare, but I'll tell you that sometimes I find them short and you will have no top end in 5th. It will take some power like a blower or in my case some juice to get it to move in 5th. Keep in mind that when I say "move" I'm actually speaking from a race stand-point-of-view. It's perfectly fine for daily driving.

If you enough power you do. If I ran 4:10's I would run out gear in fourth in the 1/4.

My car has over 500 hp and it sucks in fifth its just a cruising gear for the highway to save gas.
