is it just the stainless steel inserts that you cant go through a car wash with? i have the vinyl ones and i also have the 4.6 v8 hood scoop decals and i just wanted to make sure that going through a car wash isnt going to fuck them up....we cant wash our cars in NC anymore because of the drought here so im desperate

I hand wash & wax my car, but on some of my other cars I had vinyl decals & graphics and never had any problems at the car washes. You should be fine, as for the SS inserts i'm not sure, but I think they would be ok too.

I read that it's not recommended to go through a car wash with any vinyl decals. The combination of the really strong soap and the heat can make them peel. With that said, I believe that only applies to very new decals and very old decals that have either not had time for the adhesive to properly set or the adhesive is at the end of it's life. Same thing for anything held on by two way tape like SS bumper inserts. Try to find a good touchless car wash. It can be hard to find a good one with enough water pressure to really work.

Or he could just avoid spraying them areas, or squeeze the spray gun a little less.

Oh, I wasn't talking about those types of car washes. I never use those do-it-yourself washes. If I'm going to pay to wash my car I'm not doing sh*t.

Yeah .. well down here in the south .. we're on super water restrictions .. and I don't go a week without hand washing my car .. it costs me 3-5 dollars a wash using the do it your self coin washers .. I spray off the dirt .. fill my bucket ... wash .. spray off .. clean my rims .. spray off and wet my "super absorbent" drying cloth .. then take it back to my house for a wax ... wheel polish .. vaccum ... tire shine ...window clean .. etc .. its a PIA .. but with us in the worst drought in history .. its better than going to jail for using water ...

PS .. for those who "air dry" their cars after a wash .. here you go

Thats just retarded .. why even wash your car ... haha .. and for those of you who think a touchless carwash works .. ummm .. here you go .. :stupid

We have a great Hoffman's touchless car wash here and it works great. It has great water pressure and the only thing I have to do afterward is dry it. I don't know what bull shit you have down there, but the only thing stupid is thinking they are all the same.

I painted the bumper because after a while the vinyl would peel.

Great pressure ... umm ok ... you keep thinking that .. and while you're rubbing scratches in your clear coat with small peices of dirt left behind .. im sure you'll be feeling real intelligent there ... not to mention the dirt it'll leave behind on your wheels ... If you want some lessons on detailing I'll be happy to give you some pointers in a PM ...

and about the inserts .. don't worry about it .. they'll all be ok ..

Well I've been using that car wash for several years now in the winter and it's funny how none of my cars ever seem to get scratched up. So me and my "scratched up" clear coat are very happy with my touchless car wash thanks. You can keep your detail advise. I'm sure it's worth plenty where you are.

Look bro ... I answered your question .. no need to drag yourself into something .. I still like you being from NC and all you know how this drought is ... it blows .. I'm down near Charlotte .. on top of water restrictions we have Bruton Smith threatening to still leave Concord ... I'm worried about my property taxes shooting through the roof if he leaves .. I
