New Edge(1999-2004) Mustang owners with 20+ wheels!

I'm looking to buy some wheels for my 2003 GT that I'm putting a Maximum Motorsports Max Grip Box Kit on that will lower it 1 1/2" - 2 inches. For the track I'm going to run 17" wheels with some BFG R1's but for street I'd like to run 20" + wheels. Can you post a pic of your ride with them on and some tire/wheel specs along with any suspension mods you've done like lowering the car?

Thanks 'Stang Brothers!

hey welcome to MM! there aren't too many people around here runnin 20's on their new edges. they are pretty big for these cars. there are lots of 05+ guys running bigger wheels though. sounds like you got a nice setup going on, lets see some pictures!

heres my car, it's lowered 1.5 inches and i'm running 18's

Im running stock 17s but I have some input into big wheels after seeing the new Cobra at the car show out here, the 2005+ Mustangs are rated for 18" wheels, which means moving a size up isnt unusual...I did however see a 2006 GT on the highway with wheels that were easily 20" or more, it looked like the car was barely moving and on a wet road would lose balance like a big fat guy in high heels. I think if you were gonna run 20s' on these you could stand to put a 20x10.5 in the back if they make those. Funny story, I saw some guy on the same road a few weeks earlier with a beat up, rusted very neglected Monty Carlo with an mean sounding exhaust and he was running SUV size chromes' on it that must've been 33"...His 3rd gear sounded like a garbage truck accelerating...Not knocking the big wheel thing though.

Thanks for the welcome! I tried to post a pic but since I'm a newbie they won't let me! You know, spammers and all! Anyways, I just wanted to see what it would look like. I saw one New Edge that was running 22's on the back and 20's on the front that looked pretty cool!

i dont think any muscle cars should have 20's or dub's or anything of the sort....its kind of like punching a 90 year old man in the kidney its just not right imo

It may not be a new edge but here are a few of my buddies car with 20s out back and 19s upfront. IMHO they look perfect. So for all those that say muscle cars shouldnt have 20s I think they might be mistaken. If done right they look sweet. JMO

i was gunna go 20's and 18's i just love the look of the huge rims, small amount of rubber and lowered. but 20's all around, i dont think would look right. although most of them ive seen were stock height so seeing one with 20's lowered would help

I'm running 18s with a 2" Eibach Sportline drop. It worked out great for me.

I think that anything from 18 - 20 looks really good on a new edge that is lowered. I agree that if it isn't lowered it looks like a tractor but I want to be able to pull the 17's I use to road race with and slap on some 20's when I'm just cruising! I think it looks really cool! I know some think it's for ghetto rides but I think doen right it can look really good! Also, when you run 20's in chrome some of the wheel styles look too big but if you run them with blacked out centers they look pretty cool!

LOL! I know, I know! That was the first session out with the car and I was so anxious to get out there to see what she could do that I forgot to tape them! They black flagged me after a couple of laps so I had to come in and tape them then go back out! I felt bad because the tech inspector got a little talking to for missing that one!

The worst pat of the whole day was the knucklehead that got blackflagged for dumping oil on the track and decided to do one more lap before coming in. What an idiot!

so if you crash they don't break and go all over the track.
