I'm pretty upset right now guys...

ok well last saturday oct 20, i got a flat tire, the left front. It was at my buddies house, who is getting his roof redone and the dumbass roofers left some nails or sumthin out for me to run over. It somehow punctured the side of the tire (profile side) and not the tread, so it couldnt be repaired.

So i went into the local pep boys (i kno i kno, dont need to tell me that i'm an idiot for going there, its the only place really around here. No tire shops). So i special ordered a new 265/35/18 BFG Gforce KDW 2, which was very costly might i add.

Well it came in today, i went in to go air up the tire to drive over to pepboys and noticed the left rear was flat too!!!! OMFG!!!!!! Well there went another $300 on top of the first $280. So i air both up, go in to tell them the rear is now fucked up but i told them to at least put the front on and to order a new 295/35/18 damnit.

Well heres the extremely shitty part, if there wasnt enough shit to go around for everyone. They told me to come out and help them with something. It turns out, my lugnuts have a lug nut locks, and i DONT HAVE THE SPECIAL SPROCKET KEY!!!! i called the previous owner and he doesnt have it either. So i called mcgard (ppl who made the lugnut locks) and i have to make a cast out of clay, making an impression and send it in so they can match it. It could take up to 2 months they said!!! WTF am i supposed to do? I have a job, school, football, and social shit on the weekends... and my stang is my daily driver. This sucks major guys...

sorry to hear about the tires man.

that shop should have the key for it .. most tire shops do..
and for ordering/mounting tires that is way too much to spend

That sucks man!! Most tire shops have a tool that will take those off. They are mainly used to remove stripped or broken lug nuts. It shouldn't be too hard to find a shop that has one.

dude... i feel your pain... sorry to hear all that.

the shop should be able to break the lock nuts off. when i went to get my tires and they couldn't find the lock nut wrench, they said they could just break the nuts off and i could just order another set (i ended up finding the wrench, but that's not the point).

ask about it before you get to upset.

Ok thanks guys. At least i have some place to vent lol. My parents are just getting pissed whenever i talk about it, but honostly, my car is my life pretty much. I know its sad to say that, but i love it soooo much, even though its just material, i just love her soooo much and it sucks to not drive it everyday.

But yeah i'm gonna ask around tomorrow after school... i'm gonna call tire barn, discount tire, and every other damn place with the name tire in it haha.

Yeah i realize thats a lot to buy and purchase a tire for... but honostly, they're expensive tires to begin with (cheapest i could find online was 232 and that would take a week or 2 to get to me) and you have to account for the fact that they didnt have them in stock, so i was paying shipping also, and unlike buying online, you have to pay tax if u buy instores.... so really its about right.

Hey man, when I first bought my stang the same thing happened to me. So I took it to a mechanic I trusted, and he had these sockets that were made to "bite" onto the old lugs, and it worked! I'm not sure what there called, but that could fix your problem.

Dude, if pepboys can't figure out how to remove a locking lugnut you need to keep them from working on your car. There are special sockets that can be used to remove those locks. you hammer the socket onto the nut and the teeth of the socket grab. then you remove the lugnut and throw it away. It shouldn't take them more than 20 mins to remove all four then just buy another set.

You're in the wrong place. We routinely remove wheel locks where the customer has lost their key. There are certain style wheels where we will ask the customer to sign off on any damage that may occur during removal.

if the rim has recessed lugs like a cobra-r rim then the socket may scratch the rim up when removing them. If the lug has plenty of space around it like on a bullit rim just the lock will get scratched up.

How hard did you actually look for the socket. My Galant had locking lug nuts on it and I had no idea where the hex key was. It turned up in the bottom of the spare tire well in the trunk. I had no idea. With those shiny chrome wheels on there I wouldn't advise using just regular bolt. You might come out the mall and see you car sitting on blocks. LOL

that's a form of idol worship! thou shalt not worship idols or false gods!!! God gonna fix you now!!!

j/k...though I actually can't believe my dad accused me of idol worshipping my mustang the other day. He says because I go to mustang shows, take lots of pics, I'm always on like 9 different forums reading, posting, and researching, and buying parts for my mustangs.

I told him the Lord would understand, because I don't get tickets, I don't get in trouble, im not out racing every ricer in the world, i dont get in wrecks, im not on the street robbing, raping, pillaging, stealin, murdering or slinging dope. I use it for good purposes, and always pay hommage to the Lord for my car, cause it's his car, and he gave it to me, he can take it away at any time.

if anything I'm guilty of Internet worship, cause I'd be lost without the internet....so much information!
