Maximum Motorsports Max Grip Box Install on an '03 GT

Front End:
Ripped out the stock suspension and replaced it with a lighter tubular K-Member, tubular LCA's, Bilstein HD coilovers to replace stock struts and a bumpsteer kit along with Wilwood Superlite 6 big brake kit on the front! Spring rates for the front are 450 lbs.

Thats Sean installing the brake lines(I suck at bending brake line!). He's showing me how much he loves bending brake line! LOL!

Installed some caster/camber plates so that we can easily adjust the camber for track days.

Rear:
Replaced the Rear stock LCA with a lighter Road race one and replaced the stock shocks with Bilstein HD coilovers overs. Rear spring rates are 350 lbs. I still need to install the panhard bar and torque arm but I'll do that when the Long tube headers and midpipe arrive next week.

Spherical bushings for rear shocks for better shock articulation

When I install the MAC LT's, PHB and TA I'm also going to have the 31 spline axles, Posi and 4:10 gears installed by another shop. This way, when I get it back, I can put the Wilwood Superlite 4 piston brake kit on the rear axle and install the MAC Prochambers and Flowmaster 40's

John.

Very nice...a little elbow grease on that motor would really set it off.

LOL! Powerwash is on the agenda!

Actually now that I'm starting to get to the end of my suspension mods I was thinking about some power adders. Nothing too complicated as the power the 4.6 has is sufficient in the track environment although more horses are always a welcome addition to the arsenal! Any suggestions?

Where are you going to run it? Procharger is as about simple as you can get!

Not much room under the hood for a hairdryer plus I'd like to try and keep it N/A. From what I can gather the 4.6 2V's rate at 260 at the flywheel which means they are probably running around 190 at the wheel. Is this right? I'd like to make around 60 - 100 hp more at the wheel. I am putting some MAC LT's so that should add around 15 hp at the wheel. How much does a CAI really add on to rear wheel and torque? I know 60 - 100 hp doesn't sound like much but I'm not dragging the car so my interest in more horsepower is reserved for the straights more than anything. Anything else is just a waste because in the corners you don't go anywhere near as fast as the the car can push you. Torque adders is definitely a plus squirting out of corners!

I've been running exclusively at Buttonwillow in Bakersfield Cali but after I have the car dialed in I'll probably run it at Willow Springs next then Laguna Seca and branch out from there.

I've probably run Willow over a 100 times. Problem is, it's been several years. Been to few VARA races there as of recently. Otherwise I've been hangin' with the Vintage T/A guys...Monterey(Laguna), Sears(Infineon) & Coronado Island. I'm building a 67 Coupe, vintage correct...48 IDAs, 9" floater, etc. I'm a Former FIA, SCCA Nat'l and IMSA International license holder. Ran the 24 hours of Daytona in 1988.
I think 60 to 100 hp should be very obtainable. I just hate it when more cubes blows by you down the straight and the guy can't drive a nail. I'd say you can get the hp you desire with just bolt ons...T/B, upper plenum or full intake, full length headers, Cold air induction, full flow inlet pipe, no Cat X-pipe, and a good tune, etc. I'm new to the 4.6 arena, but I went with the ProDryer.

Not really unless you like putting stuff together and then having to take it all apart because the next step requires that you not have that installed! LOL! I love the instructions MM gives but when you buy there kit I wish they would give you a step by step as to what to install first so that you don't have to take stuff that you just installed apart to install something else! I understand that they basically put together a bunch of smaller kits into a larger one but a checklist of what should be installed before the other would have been nice. Heck! Maybe I'll do that for you guys in case any of you decide to do the MM Max Grip Box Kit!

Obviously you and I need to get together so you can give me some tips on driving the "willow"! I'm not so bothered by the "big cube" guys! I can always smoke them in the esses or the turns. Besides they usually spin out in the mazda turn or turn one when you're running clockwise and you're on there bumper! The thing I don't like is that they never point you ahead! They think since they've got the motor they can outrun you. Don't they see the "Lost Hill" turn up ahead or the elevation change right before "Grapevine"?
What Make and model '67 are you building? I'm building a '66 Chevy II Nova right now! Full tube chassis with all Z06 drivetrain and suspension. Should be fun when it's done!

The car is being built in Bakersfield California by my friend Rodger Lee over at Ironworks Speed and Kustom. I could never bend DOM like they can nor can I TIG or Mig as good as they can so I left the build to them and I just go in and design it although usually they just shake their heads yes and when I leave they do what THEY want! It's usually better than my lame design! LOL!

This is the '57 Chevy Truck Rodger is building right now!

That's his shop in the background with my Nova on the rack!

wow that is amazing. I'm about to finish my masters in engineering. I hope I can turn my family's small machine shop into something as cool as that. I'm tired of machining cast iron tables lol. Only good thing is that they don't give you splinters like aluminum does.

I'm building a 67 Mustang Coupe Trans Am replica for the track. There are strict rules about remaining vintage correct. As much as I'd like to convert the car to a tube chassis like your Nova, it is against the rules. I'm having a custom cell built for the quick fill setup where we cut a hole in the deck lid for the fill setup. We can run pan hard rods, over rides or Watts links. We can relocate the control arm pivot points to alter the roll center, but we must remain with the unibody structure. Currently I have all the stitch welding of the seams & the roll cage completed. The pan hard rod is done & inand the control arms relocated. The dash is completed. All the body work is done. Toploader is ready to go. Both Detroit Locker diffs are ready to go. I'm assembling & mocking up the 9" floater currently as well as having the custom fuel cell built. I need to get the deck lid hole cut for the quick fill before I get the car painted. I've got a 4 bolt main Boss block along with a set of M/T heads. Engine still needs to be assembled. I don't have a shop or a shop to take it to, I do everything at home. I'm older now so everything takes more time to do. The guys got a nice shop. I'd like to visit it sometime. Cool Nova, even though it's a Chevy.

Hahaha! I guess I go both ways!

Will they allow you to run SFC's? Car sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun when it's done!

Finally got some time to install the Adjustable Rear Sway, PHB and TA!

MAN! Am I tired! I was going to snap pictures of how it looked up on the jack stands but I forgot and got the car on the ground so these pics will have to suffice for now! LOL!

FYI, When you're drilling the holes in the frame rails for the PHB be careful! When I was doing it the drill bit bound on the rail and twisted my thumb back to my wrist!

My thumb is still sore!

Just got back from the track doing a test and tune day!

What a blast! After a couple of sessions we got the car pretty dialed in. I was having so much hanging with the miata/vette/bimmer boys.

A couple of the miata guys came over and asked me what I had in the car to make it corner like that. They said they were used to mustangs beating them down the straights but not n the corners. Not today! LOL!

Your car should be at about 225-230 rwhp stock
