Forged Internals

Well I'm going to get a work/study job to help me concentrate on studying and getting me away from home so I can study more for the 32 credit hours I have. But it will be nice having a little more money coming in and I decided forged internals followed by a supercharger will be the way I reward myself.

I have no idea where I should start looking for what I need. What do I need to be looking at to replace? If you know of a website post it up. And lastly how many hours am I going to have to work before this becomes a reality? In other words, how much is it going to cost to buy the parts AND have them installed?

When people talk about forged internals they mean replacing your entire rotating assembly which basically consists of your crank, pistons, and rods. Heres a link to Livernois forged internals, I've heard good things about them but there are a couple good companies out there.

Typically rotating assemblys are gonna cost around 2 grand, and I'm not sure about the install price but I'm sure its going to be expensive as shit.

I've also been told my car can handle 9psi, but again I'd rather go nothing than lose my car. 9psi sound safe to you guys?

Yeah I was told that was the cheaper route too, but I wanted to know how much both would cost with parts and installation.

well u could do around 2000 for the internals and a shit load for install or
mmr sells a short block rated for 900 horses for $2799
if you know someone you could probbly get someone to install about the same but imo wich dosnt mean much id go with the short block

I'm not sure bro, our machs have higher compression which makes me a little nervous about stickin boost to it. Personally I wouldn't do it without forging first.

Thats a damn nice shortblock, and is probably the smarter investment in the long run.

Good alternative for you guys with aluminum blocks, but then again ya could get a cheap used GT block from a junkyard or if you're really lucky find a teksid aluminum block from the old cobras... it pays to do everything yourself if you're somewhat mechanically inclined...

centri blowers like higher compression so your mach is just fine with boost, and if your wanting to run turbos or a kb then you cna always buy a deeper dished piston to lower that compression a little bit but i wouldnt.

this is def not the right way to go about making your car faster. you need to build your base first and then worry about making power. people get pissed when their 400 rwhp car cant even get into 12s, or they start breaking oterh stuff. build the bases first, start with rearend, gears axles diff, then move to suspension, then build your bottem end and then worry about making lots of power. 500 hp doesnt mean shit if it cant get it to the ground
