a little FYI for you

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let everyone know about the little bit of trouble I had this weekend. I was driving around the walmart parking trying to leave when all of a sudden my car died and wouldn't start again. Well, after saying a few choice words and calling my mechanic, he was nice enough to drive the 35 miles to where my car was (didn't cost me a thing) and try to figure out what went wrong.

Well, we found it. There is a little 2X3 inch bracket on the back of the right head. Come to find out, it had worn though the wire for one of my coils and caused my PCM maxi fuse to blow. Needless to say we have no clue what that braket is for so we are going to take it off and try to keep this from happening again.

Sounds like fun...I dont know what that box does...Never looked at it before...The 4.10s are alot of fun I bet...

Good fyi. I have not heard of this being the problem but as these cars age, this will be the type of thing to keep an eye on.

Did the bracket have a hole in it? It was probably for installing / pulling the engine.

no hole, we pulled it off on my lunch break and it was black and would look like what we call a z-bracket where i work.

Did you do an EGR delete? Maybe it was the DPFE bracket............

Didn't do that. But hey, it's gone and hopefully all will be well.
