Re: best way to blow 3k

The tuner of your choice (Predator, SCT or Livewire)
4.10 gears, a 31 spline rear set up and a torque box
rear end girdle
Aluminum 31 spline drive shaft
O/R shorty H pipe (Only because they sound better with Mac exhaust)
LT headers
Accufab TB & plenum
JLT CAI (unless that's what you already have)
rear upper & lower control arms
MGW Shifter
Eibach prokit (unless you are making a all track car. Then look into coil overs)
caster camber plates
UDPs
Spec stage 2 clutch & aluminum flywheel

anything left over save toward the eventual head and the cam work. I don't think that will run you a full $3,000 if you do the work yourself.

he is not making enough power to worry about a 31 spline diff set up. he has a mac cai, jlt is great but not worth the hassle of getting another cai. a stage 2 clutch is more clutch than what he needs right now. with the aftermarket intake manifold, induction needs to be worked on a lot. the exhaust is still 2.25 and will benefit going to an aftermarket set up. i would recommend a prochamber with the lm cat back. it will keep it from being too loud and will make the same hp and a little more torque.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we are supposed to plan our build and build our plan right? He will be making more power eventually. Why build for the power you have now when you can build for the power you plan to make? That way you build sh*t once. Not everyone likes to ride sh*t until it breaks, then rebuild it. Some people like to stay ahead of the ball. For anyone intending to give their car regular runs at the track or that tend to beat on it pretty regularly the 31 spline is a good idea IMO. Same thing with the clutch. If he still intends to do head and cam work he will need the stage 2 in the future. I'm a better safe than sorry type of guy. The JLT CAI is still better than Mac regardless. Whether to change it is up to him. He can sell the Mac on ebay. If he does have weld-ins and not the Mac catback then yes he should change to the SLP LM 2s. The midpipe all depends on the sound he likes. With SLP LMs I suggest a X pipe, but a prochamber sounds good too. I'm not sure about the prochamber being quieter though. If you have volume issues get a catted mid pipe.

Not to be a dick, but if you're worried about the warranty then go spend your money on golf clubs or ice cream. Who the hell worries about warranty when modding a car?

yes plan around for a build, but that doesnt mean go and buy parts that wont be needed for a long time. i the stock rear end will hold up to quiet a bit. actually most of the people that go to a 31 spline rear wont ever actually have to need it. a simple axle swap will go a really long way! the jlt is a good cai, but people ar so hung up on a bias opinion!!! k&n s&b are just as good and dont have the "heat soak" issues that "all the others do". i have a c&l and highly recommend it! it does not have heat soak issues. the other intakes that are metal are just fine, there is not a reason to go through the hassle of selling because of a bias opinion! i ran a bbk intake before, it was just fine, i took inlet temps at the track with stock, aluminum and nonmetal intakes. they all do well. the prochamber will out flow the x or the h pipes, but it is up to him for the sound he wants. i can see why people could debate that, but it is all in the design. the box keeps heat to help keep velocity up, and the desgn of h and x gives pros of both without the negative effects.
