Looking to buy an 02 Auto Mustang GT

Im brand new to the site, and this will be my first muscle car that I plan to purchase and mod and just wanted to know how much of a difference in performance would there be, between a manual and atuomatic?

I think its a night and day when you compare the 2 stock/stock but I think if you are going to be looking for good 1/4 mile times the auto you would be your best bet as long as you build it, bigger stall. If this is your first muscle car I'm sure you will be happy with either. good luck

The 5 speed Mustang is alittle faster, less power loss through the transmission.

The auto can be made quicker with a higher stall but will take some $$ to get there. Out of the box, the 5 speed will be quicker. For serious drag racing, the auto is the way to go due to the consistency (removing the human error factor with shifting). Either will be a kick in the pants if you have never owned a true muscle car before. Welcome aboard.

I would say definately go with the manual. My first (and only) mustang was an automatic because I had a 5 speed truck and driving in downtown San Juan was a bitch. I got the auto because I thought it would be a little easier to drive because of the constant stop and go but I've been kicking myself ever since about two weeks after I got the car. The 5 speed is definately more fun to drive with more freedom through the gears while you are driving. It's up to you what you want but from experience, I am looking to trade my auto in for a 5 speed.

Where did the glass top come from? I wouldn't mind having that. Either that or installing a sun roof...

For those of you reading, I have great news! I transferred the 02 Mustang GT - automatic to my local carmax and will be purchasing her when she arrive in a week, she has just 20,000 miles on her at a price of $15,600! here are a few pics

Anyways what mods should I do to her first?

itll raise your rpms around 250 rpms. so its not really a big deal. you wont take a big hit but maybe 2-3 mpg but not too big of a deal. theyll make a huge difference also. you can even go with adeeper gear with the auto but 4.10 is a great gear for a dd with auto and n/a

nice color.

put in 4.10s if not 4.30s since its an auto and then dish out $500 or so for a 3,000 rpm stall converter and it will be a nice mid to low 13 second car with sticky tires like a MT drag. then do exhaust because its something nice to listen to and makes the sound the car should and then you can do tb,plenum and cai or get FI either it turno or nitrous or a supercharger. then you have to start to look into suspension
