I Have Poor Ignition Timing

My GT lately has been starting up in a weak sort of way, its idling fine and driving fine but it feels and sound like something is out of sync when I turn the key..I need a tune up, obviously but will that help or do I need to replace something like a timing chain or pulleys? It never did this before only recently.
