Just had to share this story...I was out this morning getting some stuff from our local parts store, no nothing fun, and on my way home I pass one of our local Ford dealers and they had a 99-04 Saleen so I decided to stop and take a look. Don't remember the exact year.

Looked real clean...the sales guy came up and started chatting and was talking the car up...."yeah she's real clean got about 380hp to the wheel", when he popped the hood it was bone stock and no SC. I didn't bother even going there with him and said thank you and took off. Amazing.

Yea ...I had i guy tell me at a Dealership that a Bone stock 08 GT will spank an 03 Mach 1...not just beat it...he said it wouldn't even be a race...so my buddy told him he had a Mach and he would be back up there later so he could " spank " him...the salesman was speechless....lol

didn't they only come with like 360 with the blower?

i'm sure they just looked up saleen on the interweb and clicked the first thing google showed them.

did it even have a number on the bumper? I ruined a dealers day once when i told him his saleen was fake cause it had no numbers....

a salesman will say anything to sell a car.

and if they think they can sell u a more expensive car then u want they'll try too.

Do they even check the VINs? I would think, and this is just me, that it would be highly illegal to sell a car claiming it is one thing such as a Saleen and it isn't.

it was privately owned used car lot.... 1 salesman spoke english and the rest well.... if u listened very carefully and signed u could have a conversation with them.

As soon as i told them it was fake and was able to prove it, he called the old owner. I could hear the guy laughing at him in the backround saying he never said anything about the car being a saleen.

it was all on the dealership. i would hope they didn't try to sell it as a saleen after that.

I assumed that that all saleen's came with the blower? Somebody correct if I'm wrong there...could you get the saleen package and not put the blower on?

This had all the saleen interior package stuff and the body kit but the engine looked like a stock GT 2v. I was laughing about what the salesman said I forgot to check the bumper. I should go back up there and take some pics.

They do have Saleens that come without the supercharger.

I had a buddy one time call me and told me there was an '01 Cobra at the local lot in my town, and he said the salesman told him it was supercharged. Knowing that '01 Cobras don't come with a supercharger, I asked my friend what brand it was, and he said he hadn't looked at it yet but said I should come check it out. So, I drive up to the lot, get out of my car, and walk up to the Cobra. The hood was still closed, so I ask the salesman to open the hood. He goes and grabs the keys and pops the hood and I, playing stupid, ask "Where is the supercharger, and what brand is it?". The sales man points at an object sitting on top of the engine and says "There it is, it's made by SVT". I politely respond "That's the alternator, and it's made by Ford..." The salesman then tries to save himself and starts looking up and down the engine bay for the "supercharger", I even let him get under the car before I said, "This car has no supercharger, and comes with no supercharger. If this car had a supercharger it would be painfully obviose where is was. Thank you for your time." And I got in my car and drove away.

Salesman really don't know dick... I've only ever met one who really knew his shit...
