The Mach 1's cams are basically the same as the ones in the 5.4L Navigator. It came with a solid axle 3.55:1 rear-end while the Cobra's had an independent suspension 3.27:1 rear-end.

I believe the only 4.6 that came from the factory with forged internals was the '03/04 Cobra. It came from the factory supercharged. The Mach 1 didn't. While it may be true, the forged crank in the Mach 1 defies logic. The cast crank is good up to 650 rwhp, the cast rods/pistons 420-450. Why would Ford change and put a 1000 hp crank in the motor with 420 hp pistons? Maybe it had something to do with the Maurader? It doesn't matter. Without changing the rods/pistons the Mach 1 motor has the same maximum horsepower limitation as all other 4.6s (except the terminator) and that's 420-450 rwhp.
I thought the Termi had 3.55's also???

So, if one just puts in basic mods like exhaust, tune, RAI, intake spacer and a throttle body would that put the mach over 300 HP?

Yes, but the article was comparing the Mach 1 to the 99/01 Cobra.

That should give you a good idea of how a Mach will respond to bolt-ons.

It did for me. O/R x pipe, K&N intake tube, weld in flows with stock tail pipes, and a great tune from VMP put me at 308rwhp and 331rwtq.

I never saw that question before now... sorry mang.
