O/R X-Pipe or Catted x-Pipe

is it worth it to get an off road x pipe over a catted x, i see that a lot of people are doing that even though it is illegal and if you get caught with it then you get a large fine. im not being a pussy im just tired of tickets and dont need anymore.

If you have emissions testing in your state, I would stick with an aftermarket high flow catted x. You won't loose more than a couple of hp and you will not notice it much over the o/r.

it sounds SICK though... I got mine from here:

http://www.pacificaperformance.com/i...d=107&fcmd=cat

139$ it was a 3 piece pipe and I did it myself w/hand tools it took me a while but I broke a bolt off in the manifold cuz I didn't spray it with wd40 or PB Blaster.

I have a friend though that can do a "mobile inspection" thats why I did it.

It was worth it to me -It sounds awesome.

You don't reall have to choose. Get a SLp or a Bassani catted X pipe. Both have removeable cats that can be replaced with o/r extentions. Takes less than a half hour to switch. You can drive all year with no cats and put them on for inspection.

Is there a big difference between Bassani and Bassani BX other than what it is made from?

I believe testing is done by the city not the state. It is against the law for sure. That's why they put them there to begin with. From what i've seen, even if you get a ticket for it, if you change it back you can get the ticket pulled. But, unless you piss off a DOT cop enough to get him to lay down on his belly on the side of the road, you should be fine. At that point you're S.O.L. anyways.

Found this on another site:

While Kentucky did adopt a vehicle emissions testing program for three northern counties in 1999, the requirement ended in late 2005 with an emergency regulation signed by Governor Ernie Fletcher.

The governor cited improved quality of air and the potential to use other methods of reducing air pollutants as the reason for the program's end.

Dude, it's KY. Seriously.

Just put the O/R on. You'll never get caught. It's just like VA.

States like, NC, NJ & NY are stricter though. Especially the latter 2. You'd way get failed there.

O/R is fine in KY...

I am from Bullitt County KY myself and I did not have cats on any of my cars until I moved to VA...

Sell your current X pipe and get a SLP or Bassani, that way you can swap out the converters when ever you want without removing the whole X pipe.

This is what I would do as well if your real worried about an emissions test. I got the O/R X-Pipe and haven't had any problems where I live but it all depends on where you live, how strict the police are, and who you know when it comes to inspection time. My mechanic does my inspection for me and I know a couple of state troopers around here pretty well so i have never had to worry about it. I also drive pretty chill around town and i have had my o/r x-pipe on for a year and haven't gotten pulled over yet. Knock on wood.
