Hooked A Code Reader In For Service Engine And Got This...

Camshaft Position Sensor A
Bank 1
Circuit Malfunction

I'm new to the whole sensor-on-everything and computerised car world, so if anyone can tell me where it is and maybe how to fix it that'd be great. I'd hate to take it to the ford place and have them charge me tons for something simple. Thanks guys!!

clean the connection's on the sensors and hook back up. that should most likely take care of it.

its behind the power steering reservoir, I am throwing the exact same code and trying to figure out why, I just picked up some factory service manuals to help me troubleshoot. I had an extra from my other engine and put it in but i`m still throwing the code.

You ever have a problem getting it to start? My whole issue started on a rainy day and it would only start on the second try. Lately it's been better but sometimes it takes a second try. Thanks for the help!

buy some sensor cleaner and blast the sensor and connectors before you do anything serious. connections get dirty and sensors go bad from all the shaking n such. its either a bad sensor or it just needs to be cleaned. clean is the cheap route if you have the $$ you could just buy a new sensor...

Does anyone even know the purpose of the sensor anyway? I assume it's to shut down the motor in the event of a timing chain break or if the timings off...

I have not had any problems starting the car, and no other problems running or anything like that so I guess i`m gonna try to clean the connection and see what happens from there.

Got a new cam pos sensor but it still hiccups. I found out on obd-codes.com that it could be the crank sensor or the PCM failure :\

If you buy a chip you can get it with a tuner included.

well guys after replacing my alternator the engine is running great *knock on wood*. I think the bad bearing in the alternator might have been producing a vibration or line noise of some sort. Thanks for all y'alls help!!
