Tranny conversion

a while ago i bought an auto 04 GT because i had to sit in bumper to bumper traffic almost daily. However, now my schedule changed and im never driving during rush hour anymore. Now that i have some spare time i just started looking in to making some mods on my car. I was wondering how much it would cost to switch from an auto to manual tranny... and if there would be any big problems.. personally i dont understand what has to happen to go from a 4 sp auto to a 5 or 6sp manual. thanks

Personally i would just beef up what you have. Auto can be faster, but not as fun!

easily possible, there are kits to do it. price will vary on which trans you decide to go with too.

an auto will lose about 6% more than an manual.

And to have someone do a conversion for You costs about 2500

well that kit is so pricey cuz the t56 viper tranny..im getting the whole pedal assembly and slave cylinder from a guy in the forsale classifieds for 100 bucks..everything i need to switch..and i just hand built my 4r70w to hold 500+ hp but i guess i feel like having fun in the 6 speed...plus you can get a 6 speed tranny for 1195 on ebay right now...

Is it possible to put a 6speed into a mach? What would be a benefit if at all?

one more overdrive gear
you could run more rear end gear and not notice it on top end
lower rpm better mileage too

Your a better man than i am then lol. I despise traffic. I mean its a shame with all those ponies and nowhere to gallop. If i do the conversion i think that it wont be until the summer, after i can afford to beef up the engine. and if i cant get the parts cheap ill see if the shop around here will sponsor my car, they have Z's, benz's, g35s, skylines but no stangs . Thanks for the info. I dont think that $3500 kit will ever happen though
