Mach 1 Instead Of Cobra

i've been doing a little thinking. i was really set on trading in my gt for a termie in the next year or so. but i think i'm gonna get a mach 1 instead.

heres why:

1. modding the gt would be the cheapest, but mach 1's are rare and they hold their value a lot better, plus i want a 4V

2. mach 1 had solid rear axle, and is much lighter..

3. the eaton blower would get swapped out anyways so i might as well not pay the extra money for it. i want to go twin turbo.

so other than having a weak bottom end what are some of the cons of the mach 1.

the cobra has forged internals and a t-56, but the mach 1 has an aluminum block and a solid rear axle, plus its lighter and costs less.

what do you guys think? i am definately going twin turbos though, i already have savings going into it.

The Mach is a good starter platform like you have already decided. Soild rear axle is also much better for straight line racing. You could throw some TT's on there easyer. But your gonna have to put different internals in it depending on how much boost your planing on running. And plus the Machs are bad ass cars with them shakers.

Benifits of the Cobra though would be its already super charged so you would have more power until you could afford TT's or you could just swap out the Eaton for a KB and be running alot more around that with TT's. They have 6 speed trans. Downsides the only one I can think of is IRS.

well the turbos would be coming right as i got the car, but i would definately have to forge the mach because i want to run more than 450 hp. plus the 4V's respond much better to bolt ons as well. i wish the machs came with the t56

The Mach 1's have aluminum blocks instead of iron like the Cobras and GT's so the block is only limited to about 700 rwhp, the internals aren't forged, they're higher compression and the lower the compression the more boost ya can run, sure they have a solid axle but it still has to be beefed up to hold a lot of power, I'd just go termi they're a way better platform to begin with because they're already forged, they already have an iron block, and personally I'd rather have a termi than a mach 1...

If it were me I would go with the termi. Upgrade to a kenne bell and get a smaller pulley and your done. Besides less headache in the long run.

Plus the fact that termies with X amount of horsepower never run as fast as they should with X amount of horsepower.

I would just get a cobra. It would be cheaper and easier to swap out a solid rear axle over new internals, and possibly block.

I use to own a mach1, those things are stupid fast for how much horsepower they have.

I know guys that havn't even touched the motor or done any bolt ons that are running in the 11's with gear swap, slicks, and rear suspension work.

If you want to do twin turbos, I would STRONGLY suggest the cobra. They have kits that areready to bolt up to the cobra compared to having to fab up stuff for the mach1 and you gotta forge the motor. even after you forge it, it is still and aluminum block so you are limited.

My point here. If you want big power, get the cobra. If you want a rare car that is a fast quartermile car, get the mach1.

Oh and if you do get the Cobra, look what you can do now
You can utilize both the roots/twin screw blower and TTs
Can you imagine a KB with TTs

I've always wondered why the hell you couldn't throw Turbos and Superchargers on at the same time.

There's no way you'd see that on the street. Did you read that picture, 1600HP. I'd like to have the block that could handle that too, along with the tranny and suspension.
