GT in bad road conditions

Is it reasonable to have a Mustang GT as my only car and everyday driver? I live in Michigan so we get every kind of weather; rain and around 40" annual snowfall. How bad is RWD in snow compared to a FWD car, and waht can be done to make it drive better in poor conditions?

I have a 99 Gt and I live near Chicago. The traction control helps but you still have to be carefull. I was in the rain the other day and took a corner a little to fast and probably slide to a 80* angle. So yea you can do use it for a daily driver, but you just have to adapt to the weather conditions. I'd suggest having an alternative SUV or truck for the days when it's really bad.

A second car really isn't too much of an option seeing how I will be in college when I'm looking at getting a mustang. Are there some good snow tires that make a difference and can also be driven on year round?

I bought my first mustang in Puerto Rico and just the rain would make it slide all over the place. I am also from michigan so I know what you mean with the bad weather and if you won't change your mind (because it's risky and you might lose some long term resale value) I would go with some blizzack snow tires and during the snowy months maybe 2 to 4 - 45lb sandbags in the trunk depending on conditions of ICE. The front end is kind of heavy so the added weight in the back will even things up a little bit.

it will still slide. its how these cars are. they like to have the heavy side behind them and that mean they ike the front of your car pointing backwards! you just need to be extremely careful while driving in the rain and snow. it can be done but still risky imo

You need weight.

Good tires and a little weight in the trunk will help but , mustangs are not good snow cars. My sujestion go find an empty snowy parking lot and see how the car acts, because you will need to get used to it. Plus it will be a hell of a lot of fun.

I went through that ice storm last year in Texas and I really didn't have much trouble with my car. Stock tires and all. Just keep the rpm's low and you'll be fine in a mustang.
