it works like crap IMO

i use some stuff that is in a purple spray bottle. I buy it at ACE hardware, and you spray it on and wipe it off and it works better than anything i know of.

You have to be careful when pressure washing an engine, because of all the wiring. Your best bet is to buy a steamer. Here's a little info to help out. BULLITT Engine Detailing

It's dusty as crap here in Iraq as well. I wouldn't bring my Bullitt out here even if they paid me.

i used to pressure wash my 5.0's engine but im scared to on my mach , i use simple green on all of the grease and then i spray F21 tire shine all over everything and close the hood , then come back like 30 mins later and wipe everything down , works like a charm..

Tire shine works great on all black black hoses/plastic.

i second the simple green. i normally pressure wash mine from a distance after letting the local car wash engine degreaser sit on it for a couple minutes while i wash the rest of the car.

i think its funny when used car dealers wash the engine, they usally screw it up... like when i went to look at this one car they had to of powerwashed it bc crap was all loose and the engine was running really bad, they were like "oh its just the intake... we can fix that" haha i love it

Check out Top of the Line Auto Detailing Supplies for anything that would be non abrasive yet still clean..I usually use a non silicone based rubber treatment, to keep the hoses clean and to keep them from rotting, The products you buy here, i highly recommend, I stumbled upon them one day. I use them with every detail. Also make sure you do not pressure wash, this could not only destroy your electrical connections and hoses but also have a higher possibility of getting water in you engine!!!! When rinsing, put a regular hose on mist and keep moving around, never keep the water in one spot.....trust me!!

Be carefull with most of the engine degreasers, they will eat away as the electrical wiring. Most of that stuff has a very low pH. Use the steamer method, it is the safest and best way to clean anything, it gets into the pores in the alumiumn and works the best. Don't use harsh chemicals on your motor.
