Automatics Can Be Fast... Article Link

Article titled: Operation 12 second stocker. It's a 99 Mustang GT.

1999 Mustang GT: Operation 12 Second Stocker

Also from a book I have by Sean Hyland page 74 he talking about automatics.

" We have converted a number of cars from manuals to automatics, and with no other changes but a high stall converter we usually see a .4 to .5 second ET reduction"

I like both manual and Autos. But if you have an Auto transmission, it's pretty easy to get it going faster in the 1/4 mile.

a human can not shift as fast and as consistantly as a built auto. but! 5spd is just more fun there is more of a connection between man and his machine.

I sometimes shft my Automatic manually. Sometimes in traffic where I want it to stay in a lower gear longer.

I removed my 4R70W for a TR3550 and picked up quicker ET's.

I feel in lower HP cars, auto's rob too much HP. In higher HP drag cars, I think an auto is better.

Go read the times on higher end sports cars that offer auto and manual. You will see the times for the Auto are always faster.
