Question about cams.

How necessary is a tune when more aggressive cams are installed? The reason I ask is because I have access to a shop with a certified mechanic who could assist me with the labor, but there is no dyno at the shop or any other type of tuning equipment or know how. I have less than six months left here before I transfer back to the States, so part of me wants to just wait until then to get it done, but that other nagging part of me is way too anxious about getting it done NOW NOW NOW!
Any thoughts?

a must. your going to be drawing in more air and suff and that needs to be corrected with the tune. but anytime you do anything internally, a retune is a must. if you dont go to a big cam, you could probably maybe run without a retune but you wont be able to get near the performance that you could possibly

Good point. I guess I will just have to be patient then. Being patient sucks.

Another thing that you need to watch out for is your valves and the tops of your pistons. If you go with a big cam then you have to get new cam gears for the timing to be right. You don't want to mess up your internals for a time consuming and expensive rebuild because you were to anxious to get it done and go play. One of my buddies did a head and cam swap and he had to get the new cam gears cause the valves were touching the pistons. When you install your cams make sure to check clearances before start-up.
