Muffler I.D.

As stated in the other thread I just started.. I got off early from my day job today and visited a few exhaust shops. Well, the guys at the first two shops acted pretty ignorant when it came to Mustang exhaust setups, were trying to sell me a muffler I didn't want/need, etc, etc, etc.. well the first guy is the only one that put my car on a lift and I took a couple pictures of the mufflers. He said they were 40 series Flowmasters (insert duh here). I was trying to figure out what variation they were and how many chambers. He then proceeded to try and sell me Meineke's "Incinerator" muffler.. he is like "yeah, uh, well it's a single chamber muffler like flowmaster" him = . Well, let me tell you, my interested had been extinguished and definitely not incinerated (har har har). But yeah.. can you guys tell me anything more about my mufflers? My cousin said to him they looked like some old 3 chamber flows he had on one of his hot rods and it was just too quiet. Below are some pictures.

Type that number on the case into google with flowmaster (i.e. Flowmaster 54321) and it should link you to fm's page and answer all your questions.

If they are truly quiet,(and I mean almost stock sounding) they are probably 50 series 3 chambers. The 40 series two chambers are the loud ones but for some people they are not loud enough. Also the 50's seem to be longer than the 40's.

if theyre flows it should say so somewhere...

theyre deff not single chamber i have some of those and they only abouy 5 inches long. and unless theyve changed they were only availablt in 3".

i have seen those incinerators before. some muffler shop down here tried to push em on me. but i already had my own i was goin in to get a quote on install. they look just like flows. i mean to a T. the ends are stamped the same and theyre welded the same way. but ive never heard em.
