How Does An 03/04 GT And An 03/04 Mach 1 Compare To A New Gen GT?

How does an 03/04 mach1 and an 03/04 gt compare to the new generation GTs?? I am mostly wondering about straight line performance (what are the 1/4 times of the 3 with an average driver?) I beleive the mach and the 03/04 gt are about the same weight, the new ones are a a couple hundred lbs heavier though right?

I have always loved mustangs (currently have an 03 svt focus) and plan on eventually getting into a stang. The problem is... I dont know if I should go brand new (seems like EVERYONE and their grandmother has an 05+ these days) but then again I dont know if I should spend decent $$ for a used one. I have always wanted a termi, but for the price and seeing as how most are collecting a lot of miles, it seems like a better choice to look for either a low mileage 03/04 or a new or almost new 05+
Thanks in advance!
Mike

Stock, the Mach's run 13's in the 1/4, depending on driver. So do the 05+'s.

Most Mach's are probably a few tenths quicker than most 05+'s. I wouldn't call that being pwnt.

In a perfect world, I would have one of each. But then, I'm greedy that way. lol

Are you sure about that? I always thought that the Mach1 had the 4.6 DOHC Aluminum block and the Cobra had the cast iron block.

In my opinion, just from my experiance with racing against both cars, the Mach1 is going to put at least a couple of lengths on the GT if both drivers know what they are doing.

Nah. I could be wrong, but I think the Bullitt had the aluminum engine.

Thank you. My research was proving fruitless for once, and I kept seeing two different answers in some places. lol

In my opinion Mach 1's look better than 05+'s and are faster and I think they breathe better too because they have 4v where as the 05+'s have 3v. I'd choose the Mach 1 over the 05's anyday...

Off the line, yes, on the highway, it's closer. I've raced them in both situations, and beat them by a car or two, but then I'm not afraid to smash the shit out of my car.
