Exhaust system

Would anyone have a picture or a diagram of a complete exhaust system of a Mustang GT so I can see exactly all the parts( headers, h/x pipe, cat-back..) and is the set up is the same for all the 8 cyl Stangs( Mach, Cobra...)??Thanks guys!!

Thanks anyways guys but I just found my answer in another thread from a few days ago... sorry about that...So the exhaust has 3 parts: the headers, the mid-pipe and the cat-back. Now my questions are:1- what is the difference between the stock exhaust manifolds and the after-market headers??2- why change the mid-pipe?? only to get a bigger one?? What's the difference between a Y and a X pipe??( By difference I mean what's better...)Obviously changing the cat-back is to get a better sound and more performance....As far as I know, Québec is the only province in Canada that doesn't have emission test but I care about pollution so i'd rather stay clean and legal ;o)BTW i'm not asking for any brand, I heard everything I wanted on Youtube!!

stock manifolds arent great flowing and hold a lot of heat. aftermarket headers flow a lot better, and most are equal length. you change to an aftermarket mid pipe for a few reasons. 2.5 inch mandrel bent piping, flows better, better sound. y-pipes are for cars that go to or from a dual piping set up. on mustangs, the v6's are the only one with a y-pipe. there are h-pipes and x-pipes. 2 different set up, 2 different sounds. x will out flow and out perform the h, but will have a higher tone. the prochamber is both x and h pipes. out flows both, has the best of both worlds without the negatives of either, and has a bad ass sound.

Thanks a lot my friend!! By the way, sorry for the Y pipe thing, that was a typing mistake, I meant H and X pipe, I knew about the Y pipe on V6s so the X pipe seems better but you got my curiosity with the prochamber...what`s that?? You got any pics?? How can it be both H and X?? Thanks again, I appreciate your help .

Do you mean GT vs Mach? A Mach is gonna have a slightly different sound because of the 4v DOHC, and the fact that it revs higher. If you put that O/R prochamber on a GT it will def sound meaner and louder then a stock Mach.

hey if you are curious about the Prochamber. Go to Youtube.com and type in "prochamber Mustang" and you will get tons of mustangs with the prochamber and you can hear what the prochamber sounds like.

Actually I meant than you probably said that the sound was awesome on a GT in your reply but I plan to buy a Mach 1 so I was wondering if a prochamber would sound as good on a Mach 1 than it sounds on a GT??

I just did and it actually sounds pretty good!!! I was asking because i.e. I love the sound of a Bassani Cat-back on a GT by oddly I don`t think that it sounds as good on a Mach...maybe due to the 4V instead of 2V...

IMO a Mach will sound meaner. That's what happens when you have twice the cams & valves. Now like you said...

...having the same cat-back on either, the Mach isn't always gonna sound meaner or better. Since they are different engines, they will have a different sound with the same exhaust (plus too much of this is based on opinion to come to a solid conclusion that everyone agrees with). But I think with the right combination, you can make a Mach sound like hell is chasing after you. The combo I want to try out to achive this sound is SLP LTs, MAC O/R Prochamber, and SLP LM2 (possibly magna paks, but for now, the plans are SLP LM2)

So basically the solution for a good sound is pretty much like everything else in life, try a few combinations til you find the right one and by using tools like youtube and opinions, you will find it quicker and obivously cheaper( you don`t want to change your set up a dozen time...$$$$$). It`s a process of trying, learning...and spending .
