Gear Question!

I have a 00GT 5SPD. I have a Tune, UDP, Exhaust, and Pro5.0. I am pulling 13.74 @ 101. Being that winter is coming up and the stang is going in the garage. I'm looking to add a few things to the stang to give her a little more pony's! I want 12's or even HIGH 11's next spring!

I want to get 4.10 gear and a 50-100 shot N2O. I have heard from many people that 4.10's are too much and wont let me hook up when i hit the N2O. I will also have some DR on the car!

I also have talked to people who say 4.10 all the way!

I want 4.10's but dont if it will hurt me in the END. I looking for all your opinions as for i havnt been down this road before. I only want to do gear once not twice! I ALSO WILL BE LOWERING THE CAR (if this helps in the end result)

Any opinion are WELCOME!

Anyone that tells you not to get 4.10s for a 4.6 is a tard that doesnt know what they are talking about. If you arnt hooking its because you need stickier tires and/or better suspension.

4.10's would be a great choice for you, especially if you are going with nitrous. One of the great things about nitrous, is that it is power on demand. With the flip of a switch you can add 100 HP, kick some ass, flip the switch and go back to normal old daily driver mode. Sometimes you don't always need that extra power. The 4.10's will give you a great advantage when you don't have the nitrous armed.

As far as 4.10's combined with nitrous and traction...You can look into a progressive controller or pick up a window switch with a first gear lock out (which is what I did)

You can't go wrong with 373's, especially if its your daily driver. Unless you want sub-15 mpg I'd stay away from 410's. With the gears, 50-100 shot, and mickey tompsons you'll certainly be in the 12's if you cand drive worth a damn.

id go with the 4.10s and when you spray, get a window switch and don't spray in first unless you have some suspension mods or tires.

Are you kidding me? The ignorance on this board is mind numbing. Ive had 3.73, I know have 4.10s because the 373 are not enough gear for the 4.6 - n fact if I had to do it all over again, I would strongly consider the 4.30. The difference in gas milage between the two is not even noticeable - with the mods I have listed in my sig, I get about 20mpg highway and city - its my daily driver. Again, i will say - anyone who says get 3.73 and stay away from 4.10 doesnt know what they are talking about and need to shut up.

Sorry to break it to you, but in town a 4.10 will get better gas mileage than any 3.27, 3.73, 3.55, etc.

4.10s are what i have, and i would do 4.30s if i had to do them again.

+1 i agree 100% once i got my 4.10's i noticed better gas millage in town. highway suffered a bit depending on where i let the rpm hang. all in all from 3.27 to 4.10 i didnt notice much of a millage change. i did however notice an acceleration change and for a boosted car 4.10 ARE NOT a good choice its just to steep. i would say 3.55-373 or even stock depending on how much boos your going and if its a I4, V6 or V8.

There's no need to belittle others here. You have a right to your opinion just like everyone else, but there is no need to flex your unfounded superiority here. Have you ever stated an inaccuracy before? I know I have. And how do you know the reasons behind a particular person wanting a specific gear selection? I, for one, want to install 3.55s in my car. And I have my own personal reasons. For one, I prefer road racing over drag racing. I also want to take the 500 mile trip to the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca next year where everyone takes Highway 101 up the coast at 140mph+ and I want to be able to keep up with the Ferraris, Porsches and Lambos...To each his own. Have a Happy Thanksgiving...
