Its funny you say that. I just did rear ends on a 02 Navi, and a 03 F-150 for rear howls. There is TSb's about this . I will insert which ones are avalible. Then you can go to youre dealership and use youre warranty!

I've got a 02 F150 SuperCrew (1FTRW086X2KC57205 , axle:H9)with a pretty noise rear end (sounds like bearings without any grease, any speed, with or without brakes, any load). I've had the truck to two shops, one private one dealership and both have said it's the rear end. The private shop want to rebuild the entire rear end for $1000 (says, once he's in, should just do the whole thing). The dealership is telling me $800 for the bearings and then more if anything else needs to be replaced. So, a few questions... - Is there any reason to go to the dealer. It seems like this is a pretty easy problem to spot and that the any reputable shop can do it (no secrets to how a differential works?). - The private shop said he could do just the bearings for about $600. Should I ask him to check the gears but only replace the bearings? - Seems like this rear end is not the most reliable. Should I consider an aftermarket alternative? I pull a 3000 lbs trailer about 600 miles a year, otherwise I drive it like it's a car. Thanks Paul |
