Steeda Tri-Ax?

Ive been hearing alot about this shifter. I understang its a short throw, but what else does it do? It says ill never miss a shift again. for ex. im always afraid when im shifting if i shift fast and am not thinking one day im gunna shift into first when i want to go to 3rd on accident. Will this shifter prevent me from doing that or something, i dont know how it would but idk?

Is this easy to install and by easy i mean like retarded easy. or would i have to take it to a shop to install.

thanks

Its shorter shifts and prevents you from missing 2nd to 3rd shifts, tighter shifter. Its not hard to install, I have the MGW shifter and installed it in about 45 mintues. MGW and Steeda seem to be the best in most peoples opinions, your gonna hear Steeda FTW and MGW FTW. Its definately a great mod.

haha you saw the video on youtube didn't you. It was pretty persuasive im not gonna lie. I personally have not had experience, but from what ive heard/read you just need basic tools. If you can change a tire you can change your shifter lol.

install is pretty easy. i don't race my GT but my uncle said it was one of the first mods to do and its nice but i don't find it completley necessary. it is spring loaded so it shifts from 2nd to 3rd by pushing straight up on it instead of over and then up.

Yes its nothing to it, just taking off a few bolts, the hardest thing is getting the old shifter off, its stuck on there pretty good. IMO its a great mod if you can take less time with your foot off the gas, your gonna be quicker.

yes it sounds liek its just a couple of bolts. i think id be able to do it. its sounds pretty good to get.

Question. If yoru in 2nd gear and you wanna go to 3rd all you have to do is push straight up someone said. So what is the pattern of the numbers then. I mean 2nd gear is under 1. 4 is under 3.....

No, I think its confusing you, its not EXACTLY straight up and down, just a whole lot easier to shift into gears, its just not SO much over to the right and then up as the stock one.

Shifting into third isn't straight up like RC said, but it's close. If I'm speed/power shifting I put the heel of my hand on the back of the shift knob, and push straight up and a little to the right. It doesn't take much though. If you're really worried about how to make a quick shift from 2-3, just take it easy for the first week or two until you get used to the placement of the gears.

you'll feel a big difference in the shifts. Ford should've installed it in the factory.

Not trying to hi-jack the thread, but what about the Roush shifter? Any good? I also understand that there are two types available? Does anyone have any experience with these Roush shifters?

Its my understanding that the Roush shifter is really a Hurst. Someone chime in if I am wrong about this.

I run the Tri-Ax, it is a great shifter. I have never missed 2nd to 3rd shift.

I've actually missed third when racing because I pull too much to the right and hit between third and fifth. It will be a lot closer and really, all you have to do is bring it up from second, it is perfectly lined (when in the center) under third and above fourth.

REMEMBER! when changing the shifter to carry over the plastic cap on the bottom of the old shifter to the new, btw I also have a Tri-Ax and no complaints what so ever, your also going to need some silicon gasket maker, dirt cheap! have fun!
