Thinking of Choosing this engine....
Hello,
I think I may have made my decision on which engine to go with for my 2002 GT. One of the companies listed on my other thread was MMR (Modular Mustang Racing) I spoke with a gentlemen on the phone who was very helpful and gave me alot of "what appears to be" good advice. I just want to get everyones take on this particular company and the advice I was given. If you remember i blew up the engine on my stock 2002 GT.... it was turbo'd at 11PSI and the bottom end didn't hold up. I am thinking about going with a MMR's 4.6 Street Mod 900 Short blockand reusing my ported intake manifold, stock GT heads, and the 67mm turbonetics turbo setup. To top off the heads I may also order a set of roller rockers from them and also stage 1 turbo cams. Total cost should come in somewhere around $4000. What are your thoughts???? i would have your heads looked at to make sure everything is ok, when i blew my motor i had slight damage on one of them and did a rebuild with stainless steel valves.

Dan, that sounds like an excellent route. i would definately go with the same plan if i were in your position. the MMR 900 will be an excellent and stout platform to go with. i have heard good things about MMR. keeping your stock heads will save you a bit of money vs. going with a longblock. a set of turbo cams will help a lot too. you will not be disappointed, thats for sure!
so is this something you are going to tackle yourself? do you have tools and a place to work on it?

Say no to stock heads (unported) if you want the best out of that block. Sure you'll make power with the turbo, but you might as well get it done while you're at it.

Yea, I am going to tackle "most" of this myself. I have a garage to work in; its tight but it will do the job. This won't be my first engine, only problem is all the rest have been 350 chevys.

doing it yourself will save you a TON on labor! these things aren't that complicated at all, just make sure you not where all the nuts/bolts and connections are. should be cake!
