rear end gear install cost?

how much on average would it cost me to have 3.73 gears installed?

how much should it shave off my 1/4 if it is already 13.98

I have been quote 175

A couple things the guy suggested:

Only Ford Racing gears the others rattle and get the Royal Purple.

So as soon as I get some $$ I am going to be tossing in some 4.10's

For a Mach, 4.10s or even 4.30s is not too much gear. Depending on how often you drive on the highway. Couple of guys on the registry are running 4.56s in their Machs. That would seem to be overkill to me but our 4Vs love the rpms.

I love the 4.10s in mine.

If you are going to run drag radials/stickies, you will want to upgrade your axles at the same time. The labor for the install won't cost you any extra if you go with FRPP 28 splines. You will not have to change out the carrier if you stay with the 28s.

I went with a 31 spline trac-loc and Moser 31 spline forged axles. No complaints and love 6000 rpm launches on slicks!

I looked quickly on ebay and found these. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Moser...QQcmdZViewItem You can probably find them a bit cheaper from another vendor. Might also try FRPP for some 28 splines. You will have to have the shop doing the install press off the abs exciter rings off the old axles and on the new ones.
