Header Install Help

I planned on installing my headers this weekend and reading some install directions is discouraging me. Im not to excited about removing the engine mounts, dont want to mess something up, the steering shaft (dont want to mess that up either) and if i remove the k member will it go right back in place or will something shift? I think im in over my head on this one . I dont have a lift either so its all off jackstands, anyone had experience? Should I say screw it and just put the x pipe on? Its my only car to drive i cant afford to f something up.

When you took the k member off did it go back on easily? Someone told me something might shift a little?

Question

headers are definitely time consuming. The motor mounts may need a good amount of torque to come off but its not too big of a deal. Are you by chance doing long tubes?

you would be suprized that it goes back on pretty straight, if anything get a paint pin and mark everything. Be carefull with the coil springs they are a little tricky and dangerous

i didnt completely drop my k. i removed the motor mounts, and jacked the motor a little. the steering shaft will be fine as long and you dont get in the car and sit there turning the steering wheel. i did my long tubes on jack stands also. as for alignment, everything should go back in place with minimal changes.

Its a lot easier than you think. You are psyching yourself out. Its just time consuming. The k-member will go back up into place. Without a lift and the proper tools...expect to spend a day or even two in the drive way. It took me about 8 hours to install my bbk lt's, bbk h-pipe, and flowmaster cat-back

+1 on that. Just be thankful your not slipping a set of long tubes in there for the first time... That gave me hell
