00 gt vs 02 gt

What's up guys? I have a 02 gt nothing special just a K&N drop in filter and flowmaster 40 series mufflers. And I cut off the two rear cats. A buddy of mine just got a 00 gt. His is all stock that I know of. It even has a paper air filter. The only thing that I can think of is that someone gutted out all four cats. Because it is louder than mine. I don't know I am just assuming. So we finally went head to head. On a rolling start off second he took me out by 3/4 of a car. After that we did it my way on off the line. This time he took me out by a full car. I don't know why his is quicker than mine. Any input on why it is would be appreciated. Thanks

well the cats restrict air flow. So with them gutted it gives him more hp than just a filter and mufflers would do.

My vote would be that he can drive better...Prolly has more seat time on his car or something...I would think he prolly has an Off-Road X-Pipe or O/R H-Pipe becuase going to all the trouble of gutting the factory pipes is more trouble then it is worth IMHO...

i say your probably not as good of a driver as your buddy. the 2 mods you have arent huge power adders. you might have gotten 15 rwhp from them. its not that big of a deal. most people arent as good at driving as they think they are. you are not the only one!!!

I was afraid that it was my driving and not car. This is my first stang and it is his 3rd stang he started off with a couple of fox bodies. I do admit that I need to practice some more. But at the same time I need mods any ideas that are quick and easy I need to restore my pride. Thanks for the brutal honesty. lol

I'm more partial to 373s cause you can have somewhat fuel economy with those

Sorry but I just can't drop it. I finally let my buddy with the 00 gt drive my car. He told me that it does feel more sluggish than his. This sucks I need more power quick. I'm not to sure about gears just yet.

LOL he might be sayin that knowing that your pride is hurt. I have told a couple of my budies things like that so they don't feel so bad. My buddy and I went to test drive a 02 GT that he wanted to buy and we ran the 02 vs my 99 both stock with flows and the 02 had a CAI, I toasted the hell out of it by 2-3 cars from a stop. Also, I test drove the 02 GT and it was the slowest mustang I have ever driven. Even with the traction control off and popping the clutch it barely chirped the tires where as mine will roast the 305 drag radials that are on it!!

normally I can walk all over a stock mach 1, but my friends keeps up with me and all he has is exhaust. I was suprised last night when I barely pulled on him, compared to at least 3 or 4 of them around town that I've beaten.
