well thing is, christmas is commin, so i need money for that, i'm proposing to my girlfriend, so i have payments on the ring to finish, car payments, rent, all that stuff, its gonna be a good few months till i can spare the cash...unless i get a new job like i'm tryin to do haha.(i'm a mechanic at pepboys, the pay sucks) i can however spare $10 for the film and i am pretty patient when it comes to this stuff. imma try it, if it doesnt work i'm out 10 wow big deal, but if it does work well, than i've got them done alot sooner so ya, imma try it haha.

Tinting is really easy for flat surfaces....but the back window will probably be big trouble. As for the technique on how to match up two edges of tint to make a nice edge....I have no idea. If I were you I would ask to have your car tinted for x-mas or wait till after the new year.

I Tented My 04 Gt. Did Fairly Well In The Sides Could Not Do The Back Glass To Tight To Get My Hands In. Cut The Tint On The Outside Of The Car With The Clear Film Agenst The Window. Cut Out The Tint. Remove Off The Outside Of The Car Remove The Clear Film. Spray Alot Of Soapy Water On The Film (baby Shampoo Works Good). Get All The Bubbles Out Of Course. Trim Again. Let Dry For 24-48 Hours. It Cost Me $35. Im Still Riding With The Back Glass Untented. It Took Me About 4 Hours To Do.

If you can afford this.... HMUSN is right. The hardest part for me was getting it cut just right.

If you do it heres a tip-
Use lots and lots of that soapy water. You cant use too much. When you think you put enough on, put more on!

Mine turned out great. Take your time and smooth it out real nice to get the bubbles to the outside. I actually had a few small pin sized bubbles that disappeared after they dried.

If I ever do it again I am going to take the window (at least the side windows) completely out of the door and tint them in my bathtub. I could get it perfect that way.

First your gonna want to take the package tray out of your car, or at least put a blanket over it because there needs to be a lot of water.

Also, do it in a spot with as little dust in the air as possible with no wind. Your garage would be the best.

It is also easier with the back seat out.

First spray the outside of your back glass with ALOT of soapy water, but not to much soap. Then take a new razor blade and scrape the outside off. This will remove all contamintants from the glass, and if there is plenty of water where your scraping you won't scratch it. It helps to use a razor blade holder, it makes scraping much easier and they're real cheap. Start from the top right corner and scrape to the other side moving the water down like a squeege. Continue to make a complete circle around the outside of the glass back to where you started, pushing the water to the center. Next scrape from the top to the bottom from side to side always pushing the water to the next line. Change the razor blade half way through the glass. A sharp razor blade is key to not scratching the glass. Then soak it down again from top to bottom and squeege dry.

Next the inside gets cleaned. You can't use a razor blade on the inside because of the defrost lines. You will need some white scotch brite, and plenty of the water/soap mixture. Soak the glass completly, alot of water is key here. Then take the scotch brite and really scrub it good, i suggest go around the outside a couple times then up and down side to side again pushing pretty hard and moving fast. You won't scratch the lines if you push hard enough to loosen everything in one pass. Then saturate the glass from top to bottom to wash all the trash away and squeege it dry.

After that you want to take some bar soap, no lotion soaps, and slightly lather up a cloth. Those little hand buffing pads are ideal for this. Rub that on the out side of the back glass where there is a slight film on the surface. Dry that with a heat gun, and take a wet paper towel and and make three wet circles in the middle of the glass, one on each side and one directly in the middle. That step is to help the tint stick to the back glass when prepping it.

Then take the roll of tint and lay enough over the back glass, clear film side down with a bit of an overhang. Take your new razor blade and cut out the shape leaving a overhang around the edge. Get a new razor blade half way through. Next put on a cotton glove that is lint free as possible. Then you want to take your heat gun and start to apply heat while rubbing the tint smooth. When the heat hits it will start to noticebly shrink and just smooth it out with your hand. If you don;t leave it in one spot to long and just keep moving you won't melt it. It's pretty easy to figure out how fast to move and which way to rub. You will continue applying heat and rubbing till the entire sheet has shrunk and there are no air bubbles left.

Now, take a new razor blade and you will want to trim the final shape since it has now been shrunk. Be as steady as possible and only apply enough pressure to cut the tint leaving the clear film intact. Change blades often because you will only be able to cut through only the tint layer using a sharp blade. Leaving this ring of clear film around the edge is important.

Okay, now the glass is clean and the tint is cut, time to put it on. Again satturate the inside of the glass, alot of water. Flip the tint over on the glass, the soap won't hurt it. Then peel up a corner and while spraying between the sheets with the water separate the top half and spray plenty of water on the side of the tint that is now exposed, this is the side that sticks to the glass. Next take the piece of tint and grab the sides in the middle letting it bend over your arms in a L-shape with the clear film on the outside, and the peeled half away from you.Now the fun part. climb into the back being careful not to touch anything with the tint. Straighten out your arms where the tint is still laying over them with what is going to be the top closest to your face. Slide the bottom of the peice onto the lower half of the glass, making sure it is really wet prior to this step. Now the tint will slide down into place fairly easy just move slowly. Once the bottom is pretty much in place, lay the top half onto the upper portion of the glass.

After you have manuvered the tint into place take a nice clean smooth squeeqe and push the water out. If there is small air bubble you can't push out, take your heat gun and apply heat to the outside will rubbing the inside with your squeege. This also helps alot when trying to get the bubbles out from around the circles in the frit.

the side windows wont be too bad, just use soapy water and get a squeege to work out the bubbles, the back window will be the hardest because it is curved 2 ways, you'll probably want to do it in 2 or more strips instead of the whole window at one time
