Straight Pipes?


hey will it hurt my mustang if i take the cats off my my slp loud mouth exaust. i heard you will smell exaust fumes and teh checxk engine light will come on but other than that will it still run as good and sound decent??

you will loose a little bit of TQ but you will gain it back in the upper rpms.

and you can fix the check engine light with a pair of mil eliminators

Cats on the mid pipe? Or the resonators on the cat back?

yeah those are cats but maybe you should just get an o/r midpipe? and you can get mil eliminators from pretty much anywhere... Mustang Parts & Performance - American Muscle sells em and so does 50resto is Your Mustang Parts Source

If they are before the x in the mid pipe then thats the cats. If its after the x then that is the resonators for the slp cat back. If it is just the resonators you will not throw a code. if its the cats up front (in front of the 02 sensors) you will almost definatly need MIL's. You get them for about 20-40 dollars. My Mach has an x with no cats and I don't have to run MIL's but I think it is the exception rather than the rule.

did you buy your car with a tune? or have it tuned to turn them off?

No. it was bone stock. I borrowed sweet2kstangs diablo for a couple weeks but then we took it off and it still never threw a code. There are alot of cobra's (03-04) that don't throw codes on O/R x's
