BBK Header And X Pipe Install Complete... Problems

I finished installing my bbk headers and x pipe last night and there are problems, i never dropped the k member just lifted the engine a little and some bolts seemed so impossible i couldnt tighten 2 on driver side and theres a horrible leak. 3 bolts got cross threaded , and i could only use 4 of the locks i bought for $60 . i feel like i just ruined my car, i no i need to fix the leak but how bad is it to run like that? i dropped it off at a shop today im done dealing with it.

Overall i love the bbk fit, they make a great product and after the headers were on, the egr lined right up, and the x pipe fit perfect.

I sure hope so, i never went above 2500rpm if that will help with valves not burning up. headers were the biggest PITA ever, it started out fun and went to sh*t when bolts were near impossible to tighten. a shop quoted me $800 to install them, i shoulda went with it.

Well here is just a little advice, and after 30 years of build I talk the talk and walk the walk. "Last night" you worked way too long, if it's a DD have the work done. Short cuts are good if they work, you should have ask the group about not dropping the K-member. And the NUMBER ONE RULE.....drum roll......NEVER EVER FORCE SOMTHING. That one rule (and it took me a long time to master it) will save you countless dollars and heart ache! No flame spray here just a little advice passed from one gereration to another W>P>

i was going to but LT's and do em myself, but i learned that it was very hard to install yourself, and i'm not paying $800 to have em put on so, i'm gonna buy some bbk shorties and install em myself haha

another thing, the headers are soo close to the steering shaft, i dont see how its not going to rub, anything i can do obviously eventually it will put a hole right in the header or i wont be able to turn one day. take the motor mounts out, lift engine and put a washer or 2 between the mount and the motor?

yea i was qouted $800. I almost think it woulda been worth it, i just want to do my own work to my car, and trust me man, drop that k member! its the biggest PITA install ever, i didnt touch the k member, the time it would have taken to drop it, would def. save time in the long run.

Put a washer under the driver side motor mount to clear the shaft...
