Is your car a 5 speed or auto. I have a 5 speed with 4:30's and I have pushed my car above 145 with plenty of room to go.

True, but we have 4V engines that have more rpms to work with. I have 4.10s in mine and love them. That being said, 4.10s are not too much gear for a 5 speed GT IMHO. There is an rpm calculator which will tell you how much you will be turning at speed based upon tranny and gear selection. I will have to look and see if I can locate it.

I don't know with my 373s I can still do over 150 so it should at least be around 130

Go with 4.10's, you'll be happy you did. And no, you won't slow down any (maybe even go faster) with 4.10's top end - unless you have like 1,000 horsepower.

Re: 4.10=slow top end?

I have an 03GT with 4.10's, and was at 115mph in 5th at around 4750Rpms, so i could estimate about 135 to 140 being the highest speed id be able to reach. How often are you gunna do over 115? Just make sure your tires are rated for the speed i had a friend who had a blowout at 140mph, his stang wasnt so pretty anymore.

I've hit 144 with 4:10's in my '99 GT.... but probably won't do that anymore after reading the blowout story....

At the strip it took trap speed from 103 to 105/6.
ETs went from mid 13s to very low 13s.
It still buiries the speedo at 150 and more if you're silly enough to do it.
By th way this is an auto Mach 1 FWIW

I can't speak for you guys, but I have an auto... and hands down it hasn't touched my top speed. In fact, it's made things much better. Like I said, I can hit 145 and feel like I've got plenty of room.

I have a '99 GT Convertible/automatic with 4.10's and at the top of 3rd(6000rpm's) I am right at 110mph and am quite sure when I did 135 once there was more to go. More than will ever be needed. Mark

You know, when mine gets to around 6,200 RPMS I start to get worried. Should I be, or is it rational to take it higher
