White Face Gauge Install

Okay guys, I searched the forum before I started this and most of the posts I found had to do with how the gauges looked so I'm going to ahead and ask my question.

I ordered white face reverse glow gauges from American Muscle and am curious as to whether or not I can install them myself. So, I'm looking for anyone who has done the install and can give me an opinion on difficulty and whether or not the needles have to come off.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Did you find that it was difficult to do the install yourself?

I installed the exact same guages in my car and on a difficulty level i would rate it a 6 out of 10.... You need torx heads to remove the guage cluster first of all.... remove the 2 in the underside of the dash board to remove the plastic bezzel.... then take out the 4 screws that attach the cluster to the car.... slide the cluster forward with the steering wheel tilted as far down as possible... then unplug the 2 sets of wires and remove the cluster from the car.... Go inside and sit at your table and continue on... Remove the 10 screws with the torx head remove the plastic bezzel.... now take the insert they give you and carefully slide it over the needles... DO NOT REMOVE THE NEEDLES!!!!! ..... This is going to take some time because you have to get it over the needles and the locating pins in the cluster. ok... now that you have in on.... the part they dont tell you in the directions.... you have to make sure the pannel is centerd exactly over the cluster.... if not when you light up the guages the lights dont line up with the idiot lights on the bottom. So....center the incert around all the needles and tape it in place so it does not move when your reinstalling the clear bezzel...so....put the clear bezzel back on then procede back to the car.... Now...I spliced mine into the light switch I believe the secont thick wire from the front of the switch... I cant remember the collor... this way... when you have the parking lights on the needles glow red... then when you have the headlights on everything glows... then I grounded right to the 3 inch round pipe that runs threw the dashboard with a teck screw....Install everything back in the dash and you are ready to go.... hope this helps...

I did some for a friend in an 02 ranger and it wasn't difficult at all.The only thing I can add is if you have to remove the needles a fork works better than the lil tool they give you and remember to TAKE A PIC OF THE NEEDLES BEFORE YOU REMOVE THEM or you will be wondering if they are accurate forever.
