Make My Shopping List


Alright for those of you that are bored and know anything about nitrous setups here's your chance to become unbored for a little while. I know very little about setting up a nitrous kit so pretend I'm car retarded. I don't know if it makes a difference that I have a 4V motor and not a 2V. Here's what I want:

100 wet shot or less (much more than that will put me closer to 450 than I want to be)

I want to manually engage the nitrous, but I also want safety systems incase someone in the passenger seat gets the I want to push the button sickness. So I know I'll want something with WOT and most likely a window switch that will control nitrous spray through rev limits and gears.

Purge kit
Heater
Anything else I might not be thinking of.

Alright toss down the hyperlinks.

Also, will I need a separate tune (notice I have an XCal3) or is there a way that I can set it so that a tune kicks in when the nitrous is engaged?

only way to change tune on the fly is a flip chip. it the car is tuned, the timing will have to be taken back to stock and modified from there. n2o kits come with a WOT switch. the n2o wont engage until its is in WOT. then there is a window switch to help when to turn the spray on and off ant certain rpms. you will need to run a 1 stage colder plug when you go the the spray too. you can hook a push button in line with the arming switch if you want one. heater, purge, fpss, are a few supporting mods that are highly recommended. and a blow down tube wouldnt hurt to have either.

I'll probably go with an aluminum shaft and a throttle body. I may just save my money though. Things tend to go wrong and it's always after I've made a purchase of a few hundred or more.

Do I need to just go with a 4.6 motor kit or is there a difference between 2 and 4V?

No. any 4.6 mustang kit will work. I run my 100 wet shot on stock timing, and it works great. I have ngk tr6 plugs and it hits from 2200-5800 rpm. i use the msd digital rpm window switch. you can run a hundred shot with just the plugs and stock timing. If you are worried about it then just set your tune back to stock and drop a degree out.

Ok here's a situation. Say you're on the street and wanna run nitrous but you didn't have your car ready for it, but you did have the heater on. Am I SOL? Or can I spray and not have to worry about anything?

If you are running alot of timing (I assume you are) and you hit that 100 shot it will most likely spell disaster for the motor. my advice would be to setup 2 tunes (since the xcal will hold 2 or 3) and if you want to "hunt" or "play" put in the nitrous tune, if you are daily driving, run the motor tune. Unfortunatly without the flip chip you can't have the best of both.

one or the other with a programmer. cant sprtay on top of an all motor tune, too much timing. you will loose all motor power if you just run a nitrous tune. there are sacrifices to doing this stuff, just depends on what all you want.

Drop the dough on a flip chip then. or sacrifice the timming and have the bottle on tap whenever you want it. If you go that route though I would bump it back a degree or 2 and run close to a 130 or 150 shot.

eliminator/flip chip can be done on the fly. a tuner you will have to shut off the car, and load tune. but if you change something that requires to change the tune, you will have to have the chip reburned. the tuner, you can just make the adjustments that are needed.

The flip chips are the only way to load tunes on the fly. The programmer lets u change the parameters of the tune when ever you want, but if you want to be able to change tune, activate the N20 and race on the fly, the flip chip is the only way. But like sweet said if you want to change parameters in the flip chip it has to get re-burned.
